    Ky Lake crappie

Anybody catching crappie on Ky? What depth and method is working right now? I'm bringing my 8 year old down to crappie fish this coming weekend and would like to get on a decent bite to keep her interested. Thanks for any help.

We fished Sunday and Monday. No luck on crappie. Better luck bass fishing. We were at Blood River. From what we gathered from the "dock talk" the bite may be a lot better this coming weekend. Everyone said it was a little slow and the crappie were deep. Water temp was still 53.

Most people I talked with this past weekend were struggling. WE did manage to catch a few on crankbaits. The ones we caught were CRAZY BIG.

    We were bass fishing.........

Sugar, Smith, Duncan, Rhodes, etc, etc.

Dave Stewart's report is spot on.

If he's not busy, I'd seriously spend a day with him on the water or IN his class. His water elimination class/process has taught me a CRAP LOAD of stuff about fishing. I was down there this past weekend with guys and I was explaining a little why we were fishing certain spots, but to really understand it, they need to take the class.

Follow the food, and understand the food, and catch more fish. ALL FISH.

Now if those **** Asian carp would start becoming food.....that is a different story. Ran into a gigantic school of them in smith bay on Sunday.

Thanks for the info guys. I took Dave's class about 5-6 years ago. You're right George, it does help a lot. It puts you in the high percentage areas in a nutshell. Thanks again for the help.

we were there this past weekend, Saturday was a bust windy and cold, sunday wasnt much better. but Monday and Tuesday was on, caught limit both days. tuesday was by far the best, had limit in 5 hours. we fished the back of Johnathan where all the spider riggers were and caught fish but on the small side, went toward main lake and wore them out, 10 to 12 ft deep, long lining. Averaged about 12 inches and a few 13 to 14. blue/chartuse and bubblegum/chartuse were the preferred color. water temp. tuesday was 57' when we pulled off.

Just wanted to let everybody know how we did. Fished Friday afternoon, most of the day Saturday, and a few hours Sunday morning. The rain and cold front turned the crappie off. Fished from Kenlake to Blood River fri and Sat. If we fished less than 5ft deep, we caught plenty of 12" buck bass and an occasional white. From 8ft to 18ft, pretty much all white and yellow bass. Probably caught 25 or so in 2 days. Went to Barkley on Sunday and it was really muddy. Nothing biting over there due to the water clarity I assume. Did talk to a guy cleaning a few fish at the first marina on the right in Blood. 3 of them fished from daylight till about 4pm and managed 10 crappie. I would say the warm stable weather they had earlier last week there was probably a good bite.
