Last month while I was at Lake Barkley for nine days I had a problem with my trolling motor on the first day. The manager at the State Park marina was very helpful in pointing me towards someone he thought might be able to help. I knew I at least needed o-rings but possibly more internal parts. I was sent to Barry's Marine on Canton Road not far from the entrance to Lake Barkley State Park. Barry has a busy place. But he took time out to help me. He had the o-rings I needed and I put them on. He also let me use his air line to blow out as much water in the unit as I could. Unfortunately it still did not work. After some time of looking for some parts he thought he had he remembered a fella who lives in Aurora that worked on trolling motors. I tried to pay Barry for his time and the o-rings but he refused it. I then went to his friend's place. His name is Monte Morris. I took the trolling motor off the deck and brought it into his shop. He took it apart cleaned a few parts and dried the rest of the water on it. When he finished, he tested it and it worked as good as new. If you ever have motor problems I can suggest you go to Barry's Marine. He will treat you right. And for your trolling motor issues go to Monte Morris. I got back on the water the next day and the rest of the time I was there. And the fishing was great! It would have been a busted trip had it not been for these two guys.
I'll second that thought on Barry's marine. Fortunately I haven't needed outboard help for several years but I blew a piston in my Merc V6 4 or 5 years back and had Barry rebuild it for me. He did a heck of a job as that motor has run great ever since. He does stay busy but does top notch work...
