We I pulled some shad raps looking for some EYE's . Did get one that was 13in still waiting on the first keeper this year
My lil 40 was trolling at 1.2 mph.Isn't that a perfect speed for walleye??

We were down Saturday 8/15, and after the rain did some fishing along the banks mainly for bluegills. It was slow but we caught a few good sized long-ears and several cats tight to the bank near dark.
What surprised me was the first bluegill we caught. When I held it to remove the hook, I could not believe how warm the fish felt. After letting the fish go, I felt the water and it was as warm as a bath tub.
I always kinda thought wallies were more active in water around 55-65 degrees. Is that different at Nolin. Wondering cause I've been told fish kind of adapt and act differently in different lakes.

Yes it was warm wasn't it ? I agree like bath water almost . Wallies do not like that warm water .....they will be near the bottom in deep water . I was trolling in about 20ft of water and I would say my shadrap was probably down around the 10-12 ft area.. i Long line the baits when trolling ...if you let allot of line out your bait will run deeper and the outboard noise will not be as much of a factor
We tried a few weeks ago for walleye pulling shadraps and nightcrawler harnes. Couldnt keep the catfish off long enough to catch walleyes. I struggle catching them in the summers anyhow but when i do luck up and catch one its short.. I agree with the above post that keeper sized walleyes are hard to come by. I like my chances in early spring when they are up in the river. Caught some real nice ones in February and March.
