My dad and I went down there bass fishing for his first time on the lake yesterday. The water was 46-49 degrees and a little stained. We caught 2 small stripers in the first 45 minutes on Alabama rigs and then didn't get another bite until right before it got dark when he caught a 14" largemouth on a silver buddy. We put in at the state park and fished main lake pockets and cuts trying to stay out of the wind. We wanted to run to Beaver, but turned around due to rough water and not wanting to take a beating. We threw A-Rigs, jigs, drop shots, crankbaits, and we threw a jerkbait a little bit.
I'm sure someone did better than us, so let's hear it. What did we do wrong?

Fished Cumberland Point area Saturday and boated six all on crankbaits
Took my son out early Sunday in Wolf. Caught 7 largemouth in about the first 30 minutes of daylight and then struggled with the wind, gave up by 10:30 and went home and cleaned my boat. All caught of a jerkbait or spinnerbait.
I struggled catching bait Saturday morning. Must have been deeper than the 45 ft rope I was using which turned out to be a blessing. Mixed it up and went crappie fishing. Prob ended up catching about 50 and 20 or so were keepers. A couple over 2lbs. Fishing sliders deep was the ticket. Bigger fish were shallower in water column (about 20 feet) but I'd get a consistent bite if I let the jig sink to 30-40.
