    chickens coming home to roost

Well Mitch, now do you think blocking another supreme court justice helped your cause? Womans rights got a major victory on freedom of choice. Brexit, a great idea by the middle aged white guys looks like it will have some serious complications, because only about 35% of the eligible voters responded, yep, second thoughts are starting, and the EU says squat and get off the pot, don't dawdle and try to make deals when you wanted out.I'm not one of those "old white guys", I'm an ancient white guy, who knows there are two sides of a coin.AOG ancient white guy, remembers a vibrant middle class,Remembers there were no conservatives or liberals, just plain ole good americans. IF CLINTON AND WARREN GET ELECTED, WE BETTER HOPE THEY ADOPTED SOME OF BERNIES IDEAS..

Today the 2nd amendment took another hit. Why does the Supreme Court continue to ignore the 2nd amendment and allow these new laws that trump the 2nd amendment.

A well regulated militia, the right to bear arms shall not be infringed.

It doesn't say except if they have a minor offense on their record they are can't have their arms. The founding fathers gave us the Bill of rights and the first ten amendments to the US Constitution for a reason. And that reason was to help protect our liberty from foreign and domestic abuse.

    Why is it always guns

Moveon, I owed firearms from the time I was 17 till 4 years ago, when I gave my last revolver away.Do I feel less secure? not really.I've repeaterly said, everyone if they want one should own firearms, lame crippled or crazy. And open carry if chosen a legal option. The second ammendment is just that, second! thweres more wrong with this country than being denied an arsenal and a sack of ammo. Our middle east policy has been a disaster since 1983, and no end in sight. Multi national corporations have tilted the playing field, special interests want un checked immigration. Our banking laws are screwed up in favor of the chosen few. Voting rights are under attack, and the infastructure is falling apart. Too many social programs that don't make sense, whether for the individual or the corporations. Do you feel that you are being denied your rights? how about me, I'm a smoker, but thats OK to to ban one of my likes, for the common good. An attack on freedom, is an attack on all freedoms.

To a large degree, society dictates the way its members should and should not behave. In fact, cigarette smoking got its start due to the potential health risks faced by society from the earlier use of tobacco for chewing. Tobacco chewing was a common practice of men in the late nineteenth century. Publically spitting tobacco was then considered acceptable behavior. Spittoons were commonplace in homes, businesses and public gathering places. When it was realized that the spitting was responsible for the spread of the germs that caused tuberculosis, society's acceptance of spitting in public was reevaluated. Spitting was soon viewed as an anti-social behavior, and tobacco chewing was voluntarily stopped by previous users. At about the same time the first machines for mass production of cigarettes were introduced and many tobacco users welcomed this method of nicotine delivery which did not require spitting and seemed to be risk free. While tuberculosis and infectious diseases are no longer the major health threats they used to be, degenerative diseases such as heart disease and cancers are now of major concern. With the possibility of smoking contributing to an increase of these diseases in non-smokers society is becoming intolerant of cigarette smoking. It will probably reach the point where the disdain for smoking will be similar to society's feeling toward public spitting. If a visitor in your house constantly spits in your ashtray you would probably toss him out. Smokers are now encountering this same response from family, friends, employers and anyone else with whom they come in contact. They are not welcome as long as they have a lit cigarette, cigar or pipe in their possession.

If you do not wish to become socially ostracized due to the continuation of a dirty habit then don't smoke. You will be free to go anywhere, any time and without having to worry about whether you have cigarettes and will be allowed to smoke them. Life becomes much simpler once you break free from this addiction.

    my choice

As long as it is legal, I can smoke. I choose friends who either partake or tolerate the habit. And I do recognize the risks involved. But most of life involves risks of some sort. A risk free life, would be boring, and some of the folks who advocate it are also boring to me.If we follow what society dictates, WHERE IS YOUR FREEDOM OF CHOICE. I make exceptions for non smokers when I'm on their turf, but when they are mine, they should not object to my habits. Neither of my chilren smoke, when I visit them,I go outside, or to a place that they provide for me. When my son and I go to the casino strips, we use differnt rooms, at MY insistance.. If tobacco is so bad, why do we let farmers grow it?

    True, but

As long as smoking doesn't affect any one else's health except the smokers I have no problem with at all. I do not want to see smoking banned all together but I do believe that when I go into a public building for whatever reason I should not have to breath smoke filled air, to me that imposes on my freedoms. The exception being casinos, bars and smoke shops because there is no reason why I would have to go in any of those if I don't want too. I once read an article that stated smokers actually save the government money because their life expectancy is shorter and they are in the social security/Medicare system for a shorter amount of time. It went on to explain how that savings more than offsets the above average healthcare cost that they have on the system but that point may be moot because I know a guy that smoked unfiltered Pall Malls for 50 years and believe or not he is still alive. Lol.

    65 years of puffing

it's the genes. I had a friend who had part of a lung removed, he never smoked. My aunt was 96 when she quit, because her warden at the nursing home said it was bad for her.I'm not going to live forever, my death will be bladder involved. But what ever it will be, I'm not afraid, had a great life.
