    another tradition

We spent new years eve in algeres[across the river from the big easy. At mid night many locals would go out into street, and unload their firearms into the sky, you can imagine the consequences. they have toned this down quite a bit. We spent the night waiting for the dreaded 2000 disaster. The camp ground were we had our travel trailer had a small celebration after 0001 on 1/2000

    Smile our best trip

We left on the tuesday before thanksgiving. spent turkey day in alamo tn.Then headed to alabama near mobile, spent chistmas on an island, and headed for norleans. The news then was will happen with Y2K, so we were a little cash heavy, in case. there are several ways to leave the city, I chose the huey long bridge.2 narrow lanes, our extended mirrors were within milimiters of touching on coming traffic. My wife was afraid of bridges, and that is one scary bridge. She sais she had her eyes closed all the way, I told her I had mine closed half way.We made norleans several times. Usually spent part of january and february in TX,A lot of it parked on the gulf beaches. We would head home to ky in late march. Those were the days of memorys. Yep the wife the dog the cat and me.Loved louisiana, good food, nice casinos, and the best coffee in america[with or with out an added spirit or two].Traveling, gambeling, fishing, and enjoying life.

    bridges

I mentioned my wifes fear of bridges, yet she chose the shortest economical routes. Lake ponchatrain cause way, about the one of the longest bridges in north america. She survived. Caueway to dauphine island Al. sort of long.the bridges across the mississippi and missouri rivers are long. And we ended our travels crossing the straits of mackinac bridge between wis. and michigan. I have a photo of me walking across the mississippi river at cass lake minnesota. And when that 27ft travel trailer was at home, it was a vacation stop for some of our children. We were planning to go full time, when the diesel engine failed on the truck, and we really afford to to replace it or a newer truck[couldn't] I'm hoping for one more trip before my time runs out, but that depends on how fast the cancer spreads.
