You have to find the right , specific places in this high water, and if you do, you can destroy fish. 5-10 fish off a single place.
We caught multiple bags of keepers Fri, Sat, Sun. Wed and Thur were tough for us, but we still caught bags of keepers.
The water coming up 5 feet in a day hurt Wed, but Fri Sat Sun were pretty stable, if you ask me. Sure they are pulling hard, but inflow is hard too.
All my traditional May spots ****, and I tried them all, and sucked on all of them. With Post Spawn being the deal in all my favorite spots, I had to find staging stuff where they had already backed off, and those staging places, were loaded with BIG fish.
Don't get me wrong, you can still swing for the fences and stick some really, REALLY good spawners, but the spawners I found were not really, really shallow like those in April and Late March. These spawners were about halfway between where they'd normally spawn and where they'd stage.
Buck Brush is GREAT, but only specific buck brush. You had to really look to find what was the right stuff. I stumbled on the right stuff, and then repeated that pattern Fri, Sat, Sun and MURDERED fish.
Tubes, Texas Rig were the mainstays, but we caught fish on crankbaits and rattletraps too, but by far tubes and texas rig.
Later,
Geo
