    favorite place to fish?

I am not asking for you to reveal you honey hole or anything like that, but just wondered what everyone would say and why.

For me, my favorite place is Dix River below the dam. I like how remote it is and the scenery. I love going out early on a hot day and having that cool fog sitting just above the water. I love fishing a river system just because of the variety of fish you can catch. On a given day, I might start by bass fishing early, moving to the cold water and doing a little trout fishing later in the morning and spend the afternoon trying to catch a big gar that is just cruising the banks. If you want something fun, hook into a 4-6 foot long gar on ultralight equipment.

Have a great day! Tight lines.

Like you, I enjoy a trip that is varied. My favorite type of fishing is summer time creek wading. No particular creek really but I spend a lot of time in Buck Creek in Pulaski county just because its close. Red eyes, small mouth, LM, bluegill, war mouth, and gar all on ultralight tackle is always fun!!!

i got to ask, how do you have such good luck on the Dix? i almost never catch anything out there. what are you using?

For me, it's whatever lake I go to and have success. That makes it my favorite lake, for the time I'm there.

In my lifetime I've fished these lakes :

    Herrington
    Taylorsville
    Green River
    Rough River
    Cedar Creek
    Cave Run
    KY Lake
    Barkley Lake
    Cumberland

    Weiss Lake (Ala)
    Lake Marion (SC)
    Watts Bar (Tenn)
    Cherokee (Tenn)
    Douglas (Tenn)

I wouldn't really call any of them my "most favorite of all" ... they've all had their moments, as well as disappointments, so their "favorite" status tends to get shuffled around in my mental list of places I wish to return to.

in that case do you have a most memorable trip?

I think my favorite fishing trip was taking my son and dad to Lake St. Clair a few years ago. My dad had always loved smallmouth fishing and I was able to put him on his personal best. Then I taught him to dropshot and we caught bunches of 2-3 lb fish. We finished the trip by finding a school of white bass that was literally the size of two football fields and they were killing any bait we threw. My dad finally said, "I'm tired of catching fish, you ready to leave!"

That is the kind of day we all fish for, but it was extra special having three generations together to experience it.

Hello I want to thank you for reminding me of one trip when I was only 4 years old maybe even 5 but My dad Jim Harrison and his good fishing buddie I only remember him by Mister Chipley was employed at same school in Lexington ky, On one day about dusk dark on Harrington lake (we fished many many trips there) we got into a jump of white bass and for as long as my smallarms could handell we cought nice size white bass over and over every cast..When we finished Mr Chipley said I was wearing my lucky hat. White Gilligan hat he had gave me year before we started down lake with Jon boat and 10hp moter when gust of wind blew my lucky hat off. My Dad turnd boat around to get my hat but it sank too fast I was starting to cry over my lucky hat when Mr Chipley said don't cry young man there is old grandpa catfish will keep his head really warm and it lucky will live long happy life and help us catch many more fish for the hat..... sorry for the long post but always take your kids fishimg and hunting teach them real life they will never forget it God Bless Mr Chipley and My dad and your post I'm now 47 so ment a lot Mr Chesley is gone on but me and my Dad Jim still take my kids and my grandkids fishimg every chance we get God bless all fishermen and our country and rights to fish and huntimg thank you again Scott Harrison
