Sauger fishing at meldah dam

We went shore fishing Thursday for sauger at meldah dam. Water conditions not bad. We caught 4 keepers with biggest about 18 inches. Inside 18 incher was a 8 plus inch shad. Tail was almost sticking out her mouth. Eggs in 2 fish and look to be about 1 month from spawning. If weather cooperates there should be a lot of good fishing to come. We used creek minnows for bait. Anyone else catching any?

Were you fishing the KY side? Sandbar? Left of pier? Water is going to 42+ feet by mid week. I'm in full agreement if we can get some good water here in the next month there should be some good fishing. We went on the 12th in the snow/rain mix and fished the bank on KY side (sandbar area) and caught 5 nices ones and 4 or 5 very very small ones. minnows on floating jig heads. Thanks for reporting

We were fishing about 20 feet downstream of the pier. Fishing three way with minnows.
