Summer2023 is in full bloom, lots of variety is the normal here in thebackcountry and Intracoastal Waterway at New Smyrna Beach andMosquito Lagoon, catching is most active in early mornings as normalfor summer, lots of schools of bait fish throughout the area. Fish inthe backwaters become more scattered in summer, some on shallowerdrop offs and channels, as well as in the deeper spots. Along thedrop offs can be Seatrout, Mangrove Snapper, Redfish, Snook also JackCrevalle and Ladyfish, along the bottom more likely Black Drum,Whiting, Silver Trout and others. In summer can always have surprisefish come aboard, I’ve had fish like small size Bonefish, Permit, baby Cobia, Cutlassfish, Scorpionfish caught as a surprise notexpecting them to be in this area usually. Black Drum are however oneof the usual catches here James from Daytona with a nice Drum …………..
