Ohio River Bass

Anyone fishing on the Ohio. Whats your favorite bait this time of year?

I live on the river between the Greenup and Gallipolis pool and I have to say that I have just about given up on the river as a bass fishing location. It saddens me deeply but catches are far and few between. Catches at tournaments have been terrible and there have been tournaments with no bass caught. I wish I knew what was wrong.

the ohio river has been terrible this year. last year had some success, but this year hardly any. i have caught 1 keeper in about 6 trips on the river this year. i too fish the greenup and gallipolis pools. they #####!!!!!!!!!!

Bassmaster had an article a few months ago on this topic since it is a stop on the tour. They concluded that due to silting that bass did not have a sufficient spawning habitat. Since then, they have installed artificial Spwaning sites that may help the population over the next few years. Until then, go as far back in the creeks as you can or hit a lake.
