    10 lb. Ky Lake Bass

LOL, no I have not caught one. But would like to know your opinion on what, when and where the next 10+ lb bass would come from on Ky Lake.

I feel like with catch and release being more popular now than it ever has been, a 10 lb. bass is a thing of the past.....

Do a little research and you'll see what I mean.

Could you explain why you think this?

RE: 10 lb. Ky Lake Bass

Not trying to speak for Scott, but I have seen some reports that suggest that with the catch and release being so popular, that the over all size will decrease with time.

Why? A couple of things, first the fish with the genetics for smaller fish are always released, therefore they are spawning more smaller fish. Therefore it may seem obvious that then the larger fish would also be spawning bigger fish. Well that is true, except a couple of things. first, the bigger fish don't manage to survive as well as the smaller fish from a bigger fight. Also the bigger fish are often caught deeper, then you get the problem of fish being brought up from the deep and not surviving the swim bladder problem. Also you have the few who are keeping the larger fish for mounts, therefore removing even more of the larger genetics. Finally, you have the smaller fish often out "fishing" the larger fish. They are faster and more manueverable, and more aggressive. All this adds up to the suggestion that the smaller fish will begin to over populate vs. the larger fish.

Now I'm sure Scott has some other ideas too. I'd love to hear or read his.

Here's my solution. Throw about 10,000 Florida Strain largemouth in the lakes. That'll solve your genetics problem.

BTW,Danny, please keep the night of August 18th open. We're going night fishing.

    I will be ready!!!

Man, I can't wait. This will be the second, or maybe third time I've tried my hand at night fishing, and the first time on a lake I feel confidence in.

    I'm pumped!!!
