I had all good intentions of being at Barkley and KY this weekend but got shanghi'ed by some unexpected chores at home that couldn't be put on the back burner. I too, would like to know if anyone did any good.

I saw several boats on the lake today, was wondering if any of you were there and if you had any luck. I went but had to leave early due to unexpected high winds (yeah right) and a son that DID NOT WANT TO BE THERE. I didn't even have time to throw a spinner for crappie. Is anyone planning a trip very soon? Or am I the only one that fishes Ky Lake this time of year?

Hey BB,
You know I wanted to be down there this week!! I am itching to go. I was just about ready to go today, and it started raining. Hmmmmmm, cold rain too... glad I'm here in the warm, pounding on these keys.
Maybe the mid-part of this coming week. Looks like some pretty weather coming. In the winter, I don't get excited about fishing in the rain. LOL

You got that right, I planned on going today until I noticed the rain at 8am this morning. Yesterday's cool down intimidated me enough but I thought at least I could get the practice in and get the rigs set for the upcoming season. But the rain done it for me. Yesterday I found a lipless crankbait floating from a line that was hung in a branch (must have occured due to the rising water level), it had no hooks so I took that sucker home and put some on it. It is a teal color on top slowly fading to white on bottom, one side says "red zone" and the other cannot read, who makes these?, o-rings are good, so I put red hooks in front and black nickell on back. I have only used rattltraps that sank, this floated?? I either missed out on this knowledge or something is wrong with it. The missing hooks couldn't have been the only weight?? could it. I bought more o-rings to repair another rattltrap at home that is a fairly large one in the red craw pattern. This one feels real light too. How did I miss this type of bait? Floating traps? Lets hear the good and bad on them.
Take Care.
That is a rattletrap as well it just suspends.I have had pretty good luck with them when in real shallow flats where you need to slow down but the regular ones dig bottom too hard or hang bad.
Thanks whisker, I plan to use these two a lot this year, in my club some boaters are strictly shallow fishermen, and it would be a great reaction bait, and like you said, not as much grass to pull off, or rocks to dull the hooks or take the paint off. Good baits.
