We love to fish and occasionally catch a few while on our trip, but I'm wondering how to catch more or at least enough to brag about. I heard we are in good water near Holly Creek. Last year we bought all the f'n'f equipment but didn't have much luck. Does anyone have any tips or ideas? We do have a guide taking us out on the morning of the 10th. We will be using shiners with our guide I believe. Any advice will be much appreciated on anything from f'n'f to fishing with shiners. And to add that we don't know the lake all that great.

Well we have booked one with Ky Trophy Fishing guide named Randall I believe .. but since then have heard good things about a guide by the name of John Davis who goes out of the same marina where our houseboat is at.
I've gone out with Greg from Ky Trophy fishing before and I am taking my father out with him on March 11th. He does a great job. I have seen alot of good things on here about John Davis myself. I am thinking of going out on a night trip with him this summer when I am on vacation at Dale. We have caught a few this winter fishng with shad. The biggest was 5lb 2oz and several over 4. Good Luck.
Unless John changed, I don't think he guides at night in the summer. I know he guides from October thru March but gives it up and lets the pleasure boaters have it the rest of the time. He is an excellent guide in the winter and will do whatever it takes to catch fish. He can FNF and Silver Buddy with the best of them but also will jig and shiner fish if needed. John will keep you on the lake from daylight to dark as his website states so there is no need for a watch on his trips. His website is smallmouthspecialty.com. From what I know, Stephen Headrick is the man when it comes to night fishing guide trips on Dale.

How is the fishing on Dale during early March typically??
I e-mailed him about a month ago and he gave me a price on a night trip this summer. Have you ever used his cabins he has on his website? They look pretty nice from the pictures. Are they very close to the lake? The fishing should be pretty good in March. They will be full of eggs for sure. Of course it all depends on the weather as usual.

Randal Gibson is a heck of a guide has been fishing for them ole brown fish for many years, you will do fine with him.
Might want to give John a yell. He has his own lodging you can stay at as well....
