RE: Ky Lake lodging - where is the best deal

Any particular part of the lake you are looking for? Also, what about family, are they coming? After all, guys get by with less ammenities than women can.... or at least we keep telling ourselves that.

If you like mid to south Barkley, Parkview Cottages, just outside Lake Barkley park, is a pretty good place. I've not been there for about 8 years, but they were cool. I especially liked not having phones in the cabin. Ooops... LOL

If you just need to beds, the little hotel across from the old Eddyville outlet mall is very reasonable and clean. Nothing fancy, but only about $50 per night, and you are near good resturants etc.

Now if you want mid to south KY Lake, Aurora has some decent places. Fin and Feathers... if still in business, was nice. A friend stayed there, but was a little pricy, I thought. Also there are other cabin places around there.

Finally, it may be hard to beat the state parks. You can check them on the web too.

    Try these sites:

    www.kentuckylake.com
    www.kentuckylake.org
    www.explorekentuckylake.com

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply and you are right .Guys can get by with less. Looks like we are staying at the Moores on Ky lake.Someone else in our party made the reservations. You mentioned the State resort parks. I was wanting to stay at Kenlake, but I think they are booked up for that weekend ,besides their websites are not very user friendly. They don't even show photos of the cabins or floorplans. Iv'e only been down their 3 times and it has been my experience that you get what you pay for.Two of the three places that I stayed I would go back to ,but wasn't impressed with any. Thanks again for the reply, see ya.

Kenlake has VERY nice accomodations. I have stayed there several times and never been dissapointed. The only thing I did not like was having to park my boat out on the street away from the cabin. The streets are lit but it was a little far away for comfort for me to leave everything in the boat for fear of it getting stolen. Aurora has a couple of decent ones plus a couple that I stayed in and won't be back.

If you want the Kenlake area. I would suggest Early American Motel which is 1 mile north of 68 in Aurora. Cheap, clean, and 1 mile from baits and bulletts. Check the KY Lake.com website
