Just wondering how many 10+ pound bass are caught in Kentucky lakes each year and which lakes did they come out of. If you know of a verified 10 lb fish taken from Kentucky waters in the last few years lets hear about it. Not ponds but lakes. Dave Stewart, how many 10 lb fish have you heard of out of Kentucky and Barkley? Not interested in ponds at this time just lakes. I know most of the largest bass come from ponds in this state most years. And on a different note what about Florida strain? Will they live here. Seems like I heard Tennessee tried stocking some. I know some pond owners that claim to have stocked Florida strain in Kentucky but I didn't figure they would live this far north.

There have been plenty of 10lbs LM bass caught out of Ky/Barkley. A couple of 12's too that I remember seeing and reading about in the past few years.
My 1st cousin caught a 10+ out of Ky Lake a few years ago and it was documented and a big story about it in the Lexington Herald Leader.
Several years ago in a March tournament out of KY Dam, one of the guys caught a 10 lber. The guys putting on the tourney let the guy keep it so he could get it mounted. i wasn't crazy about that, but I had no say so in it.
Now I've not ever caught a 10 lber, so but I don't think I would want to keep it.

Guist Creek had one several years ago!
There were stories a few years back about several fish from Beaver lake one went 11 pounds and the folks put it back supposedly. I have an 8 pound 1 ounce Biggest Bass from Beaver but have not been back in a while. The new restrictions on Gizzard Shad and the kill off of gizzards seems to have helped that lake some and could produce more fish like the ones reported.

State record largemouth came out of Woods Creek Lake in Laurel County 13 pounds +.
I heard there was a 10.2 caught from Rough in Feb ...this came from a reliable source ....anyone else heard of this
I have never seen a 10 come out of Rough but I have seen some 8s. So it would not surprise me a bit.
There are usually a few 10'lber's caught at lake malone each year, mostly in the spring, but not as many as there use to be, fishing can be tough there.
The story about the 10.2 at rough was correct. After an afternoon on the pontoon with family, we came back in to our dock on Tules Creek. A guy trolled up to us in a bass boat and asked if we baited our dock or if we had put out any artificial cover. We told him no, and he said he was wondering because earlier that morning he had caught a 10lber right beside our dock on a red 6 inch worm, and that he had already taken it to the taxidermist. I caught one almost 5 that night off the dock on a black spinnerbait while my wife catfished. So I would have to guess that there is some truth to his story.
