Just wondering who you guys most respect or look up to on the professional side of bass fishing. I would say one guy that I have upmost respect for is Luke Clausen. Being a young angler myself with the same dreams he had and able to relate to the same steps he took in becoming a professional. Hands down, this young angler will be one of the best in the sport if not already. He has a bright future ahead of him and has already reached great milestones in which some of the greatest have yet to do. His personality, attitude, that's what I like to see, not these guys jumping up and down breaking poles, doing dances, and cussing like sailors. Luke is going to do a lot for the sport and I am glad to see there are young guys like him who do not try to get media attention through personality, but through their fishing skills. There is a good article on the FLW website about Luke. --Tight lines

Ike, Skeet, Swindle....NOT! Even though they're awesome fisherman, I don't much care for that new "attitude". It's flat out annoying. I'll take Denny Brauer, Hank Parker or David Fritz over them any day!
I wouldn't call him an idol - but with what little attention I pay to pro BASS tournaments, I always root for Kevin Wirth, just 'cause he's from KY I suppose. Sorta like how I always drink bourbon (Makers preferably) over whiskey. ;)
Rick Clunn has just been on top forever, You can't fake that. I agree with Decker, Hank Parker can keep you in stitches.
Jerry McInnis, class act honest and down to earth...
I've always looked up to the anglers who are somewhat humble about their fishing. Guys who let actions speak louder than words are the ones worth following. David Fritts and Zell Roland are probably my most favorite. They are good, and they don't feel the need to tell the world every chance they get!
Larry Nixon, Mark Davis, ''GENTLE GIANT AND A BIG HEART''. I also like Woo Daves alot to. Woo had cancer and helped a young boy with cancer get through some real hard times by mentoring him and taking him fishing. They kinda found strengh in it together for each other. Both are in remission now and doing well, Thank the Lord. Really a very inspirational story. Hanky Parker is a good ole boy too. Some guys don't need to act a FOOL to be noticed.
Ike! For all the entertainment he has provided me through this board. Actually, if this were a "marketing" discussion board, Ike would be my hero. I think he knows exactly what he's doing. Losing Ranger was minor compared to the exposure his name got this last incident. But, alas, this is not a marketing/publicity thread, it is a fishing hero thread.......... so:
Actually, my father, he never fished a tournament (and for that tourney fisherman should be thankful) but he taught me everything I know about the outdoors and instilled in me a true respect for the wonder of nature. He started me fishing with Go-devils, hellbenders, and johnson spoons. I probably should dig those back out come to think of it.
Pro Larry Nixon
Non-Pro Larry Moeller (My uncle) got me into bass fishing and always had time to take me as a partner in a tourney and loose rather than go with someone else and win! Unfortunately, he was taken to heaven way too soon (48 yrs. old) Every time I'm out fishing, he somehow enters my thoughts.

LMAO>.. I'm sorry, were you serious?? Maybe when he was fishing, but not with his new production company. they are the ones that produced the clip of skeet making fun of ... how'd he put it... "'tards" yeah... that was it. I wrote and complained. Thanks to BASS, the shot was re-edited and that was omitted. JM Associates, and Jerry McKinnis in particular, refused to even answer my email. Also, I've found a fishing board where a bunch of his employees were posting. Amazingly, they ignored any hard questions about their shows, and only trashed the posters that disagreed with them. They all soon disappeared. Now I suppose the three or four of them may not have worked for JM, but it was their board, so I am sure their moderator could have removed their posts if they did not work there.
Now I will give props to Jerry for this, he was and probably is still a very good pure angler. I like the shows he does now showing his really old stuff. Also, he has proven what a great innovator he is in the coverage of the sport... I loved the three D maps he used to use.. miss those now, but I love the new fish tracking technology.
so, guess I'm not laughing quite as hard now as I was. Guess I'm still upset at how his people allowed the differently abled to be made fun of.

I like Woo for the same reason you mention, plus I like what Timmy Horton does with his kids resort.
I've always said, if I win the lottery, I am going to KY Lake and buying a resort, refitting it for a kids place, and low income and disadvantaged youth would be welcome for free. I would hire a staff of professional counselors, and of course guides with guaranteeed income. We would introduce the inner city youth to the great outdoors. We would not, however, discriminate against those who come from the country, but don't have the means to fish or enjoy the outdoors at that level.
I figure I would foot the bill until I have it up and running, then seek sponsorships to keep it going. That is truly my dream.
As for THE fisherman that I idolize... how about Jesus? Pretty darn good fisherman in my eyes... wish I could be just like him.
