Don't take your own boat. This is a very shallow and dangerous lake full of stumps. Rent on from one of the many places there. Now on to the fishing. Your timing for crappie ought to be dead on, also the big bass should have the feed bag on as well. Minnows around irregular features, look for isolated brush or stump beds. You can fish the cypress trees all 40 million of them and catch a fish here a fish there, but look for something different is the key. Throw some jigs and spinnerbaits and you just might get your arm broke. Good luck and post how you did when you get back.

    RE: reelfoot lake

I went Reelfoot about a month ago on March 13, We did just ok, it was really windy and I would take an extra anchor, and maybe a windsock if you have one. We caught most of our fish about 100 yards off the bank. The best advice I can give you is find the locals [can easily reconize them because of the spider riggin] and fish where they are fishing. Also ask people where and what they are catching them on. Hope this helps Let us know how you did.
    Good Luck

DONT TAKE YOUR OWN BOAT IF YOU VALUE IT AT ALL. YOU WONT BELIEVE IT WHEN YOU SEE IT.

Possibility of hitting a stump over 100%. The only place that its safe to plane out is the canals and they have a few bad spots also. I have taken a bass boat and idled around. I just tilted the motor up. Not the best idea in the world.
