Banannas in the boat

I've never been a big superstitious person. Nor did I care when my wife brought banannas in the boat last friday. However, we lost all the big fish we hooked. It rained hard on her and she got wet/cold.

Went back out for the evening bite that day....no banannas.....everything stayed buttoned once hooked. Same deal for the next two days. Dude.....what is up with the banannas?

I've had plenty of days like this without banannas....what are you going to do?

LAST EDITED ON Apr-05-06 AT 06:32AM (EST)[p]I guess everyone has their superstitions. Mine is that I will not leave a net or measuring board out. They stay in the compartment till needed. This can become a problem if alot of fish are being caught, but in that case if enough are being caught, there are no problems.

haha try going on a charter boat in Hawaii. The captain will ask you before you get in his boat if you have any bananas, and will make you get rid of them.

Same thing anywhere! Took several charters in Islamorada over Christmas, every one of them listed NO BANANAS as rule #1 !!! I always thought that it had something to do with all of the oil in them, that it was displeasing to the fish and also a safety hazard. I think it turned into a superstition later!

Not being one to overlook a detail, I note you did not mention the wife's presence on your susequent piscatorial pursuits. You sure it was the bananas?

You make an interesting observation...you may have something there 8^)

Thanks everyone for being gracious and not mentioning my poor lack of spelling...bananas. Man.... they mess everything up.
