Suggestions on where to fish please

I'm headed to the girlfriend's parents house in Taylorsville this weekend for the holiday. I hate to miss a good day of fishing so I'm dragging the boat along. I'm not real familar with the areas, but I would like to stay away from Taylorsville Lake if possible. Can you put a boat (18') below Taylorsville **** in the salt river? Any suggestions on a place to fish within 1-2 hrs from Taylorsville wold be appreciated. Any big creeks near by I can put a boat in? Thanks

Guist Creek is the closest decent-sized lake. It's in Shelbyville off US 60. 40 minutes or less from T'ville.

You might want to try guist creek lake in shelbyville it is less than an hour from taylorsville. I was out there monday and caught a few hybrids. the lake is fairly small but offers great fishing. there have been quite a few largemouth in the 3-6 pound range caught as well as hybrids up to 11 pounds.

NO there is no ramp below the dam and the river is about half as wide there as it is where you cross it on I-65... probably not enough room to turn a boat that big around.
