    Wanting Pop Up Camper

I like to be at the lake and I'm wanting to find a way to spend more time with my family and be at the lake. I was wondering if anybody knew of a pop up camper for sale or have seen one for sale. I'm not having any luck looking in the bargain mart or the local dealers. Not wanting to spend much over $2000 and would like to have an A/C. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, dfn8lyfishin

    RE: Wanting Pop Up Camper

I may have one for sale. It is a 92 Viking. It sleeps 6 and has an air conditioner, gas camp stove and sink. It needs two new tires and the outside awning cover is getting kind of rough. I just replaced the the back 4' section of floor last summer. I need to check with the family again but if it is okay with them I will take $1400 for it. If you may be interested you can e-mail me at [email protected].

    RE: Wanting Pop Up Camper

What type of popup can you get for under @2000 that has ac?

I paid about $7,000 for a Coleman Williamsburg Popup camper in 1990 and sold it for $4,000 in 1997. I didn't use it any more.

It had a hot water heater, Swing over cabinets. A built in shower and short tub and had a queen size bed on one end and a full size bed on the other. It was a good camper and it was well taken care of. I washed it after every use and put it away dry each time. I added a pipe system underneath the floor to move the drain water outlet away from the door. I added some pvc drain pipe to the outlet and then ran it back underneath the camper to the opposite side the camper. It was easy to do and I got tired of having muddy water a the door step. I could easily run to 1500 Watt Electric heaters inside the popup at night to keep the inside warm even down to 35 deg F outside. I had to run an extra extension cord to the one heater as when I tried to run both heaters on the internal electrical outlets it would blow pop the circuit breakers. The hot water heater was great. I think it would hold about 4 to 6 gallons of hot water and was propane heated so it heated the water up fast. It also had a 20 gallon potable water tank that was plumbed to the sink, hot water heater and shower. I porta pottie could be stored under the cabinet until needed. There was lots of storage to put stuff and to keep thing there for the next camping trip. Loading and unloading suppies can be tedious so it helps to have some stuff that stays in the camper from trip to trip.

It would sleep 6 peole too. There was a table that doubled as a bed suport and a dining table. We took the table out side and put it under the Awning

I am telling you what it had and the price and year to help you figure out what the one you area looking for should cost.

If you only want to pay $2,000 and get AC you may have to find an older model or a small popup that does not have a lot of extras.

I am courious as to what's available these days.

I Pull a boat with my truck and prefer to tent camp as when I had the popup we had to drive two vehicles to go camping and boating. With oil at over $75 a barrel and with the X perts perdicing gas price to continue to climb to maybe $4 to $6 a gallon I don't want to have to drive two vehicles to the campground.

It's going to be tough to spend $2,000 and get a Pop-Up with AC that won't cost you a lot of money in service every year. We sell about 20 used pop-ups per year and the average price for a lower-end, but well kept unit with air is about $3,500-$4,500. I don't think we have anything right now, but check in with one of our salesman and they can put you on a list. We sell a lot of new beginner campers that usually bring a lot of pop-up trade-ins. And of pop-ups you want to buy them used.

Was wondering if anyone had used the truck tents Bass Pro has. They seem to be ideal for camping without sleeping on the ground.

    RE: Wanting Pop Up Camper

I have a pop-up slide in camper for a long bed truck, but it works great in my short bed Dodge Ram. It has air, heat stove, fridge and 2 beds. My wife does not like it so I may sell it for $1600.00 or so. I pull my boat with so I had a extended receiver made so the boat would not hit the tail gate when it is down, of course this would go with the camper since I would not need ot anymore.
