went to Barren for just a few minutes tonight more just to see the water level more than anything. saw lots of gar running the shad up on the banks. But here the kicker everyone was out trying for some crappie slab and complaining that the channel cats were taking all of thier minnows off faster than they could rebait them. one poor soul was stuck with 6 of the 3lb channels and just 2 crappie. well we know of a brush oile not far from beaver creek ramp and walked around to it and with the lake still down we were able to cast to the pile from the shore. I put on tiny jig and made a few cast with my ultra light I use on trout andblue gill and crappie. no bites at all. so I oulled out a trout bait that is called a lazer minnow they are basicly a 1/32 jig with a very small clear plastic minnow incaseing a piece of foil that changes as the light hits it in clear water they are awsome for trout. on my second cast figured I hung up a log but it swam away after fifteen minutes I had a fiur pound channel, what a fight but I have got to get new line now. so come on down and get a cat
