when i lived there a few years ago i started fishing at night soon as the spawn was winding down and did real well, just not as deep as in july and in the creeks instead of main lake, but they would probably bite there too.

Planning a trip to Nolin this coming weekend. I definately do not want to fight the boat traffic, and the fact that the water is so clear, I was thinking the night bite may be a little better. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Just got back from nolin this morning. Pt in at Wax and did not go past Dog Creek. The water looked good. It is not clear at all.
I don't know for sure about the night bite, but I would agree with ChefDave that the water at Nolin right now is more clear than usual. It has color up around Dog & Wax but not as much as usual in my opinion...as you get towards Ponderosa, it is more clear than I've seen it in my 5 years on the lake. I think this is mostly due to the slow and steady rise of the lake this year. Not once has the lake actually had to be dropped quickly after a big rain this year. THe lake is still 2.5 feet below pool and only rising approximately 2 inches per day.
On another note, I'd think that should have made for an excellent spawn this year. Thoughts?
I was at Nolin om Sunday, fished Briar creek from the mouth all the way back, Saw tons of fry hanging around stick ups, as well as many small bass cruising, but the water was so clear you couldn't get within casting distance before spooking them. We caught a couple nice ones mixed in with several shorts, but all in all, I consider it a slow day. A little wind probably would have helped. I guess I should have gone looking for some dirtier water, we just didn't have too much time that day. (Honeydo lists to get home to). Anyway, thanks for the responses guys.
