DO YOU STOP USING A CRANKBAIT?

When do you think it is to late to throw a medium diving crankbait such as one that will dive 6 or 8 feet. Can you still get quality fish on one in the summer?

Just depends on the conditions and lake. Lol, at Wilgreen the hotter, calmer and more miserable it is in the summer the better they hit a medium diving crank. Most other places it wont get a second look. But, under the right conditions (windy, overcast) it can work anywhere.

Just got through watching Stacy King and KVD fish a late summer to fall pattern. They were using the little square billed crankbaits to fish the pods of shad that congregate on the flats in bays and up in rivers. They used them to fish for the Bass that were picking off the shad.

As I watched, I thought of this thread.... and maybe the information would help.

Sounds kind of like a sad life.. huh?

I almost penned the pun, a shad life... but was afraid I would be the only one laughing. LOL

I keep most of my crankbaits in the boat year round. I have coght some real good fish in the heat of the summer on shallow running crankbaits. But the water has to have some color to it though once the sun gets up.

I've been using the Norman Mad-N's year 'round with good results. There's always one tied on in my boat.

i hate crankbaits only use them when i have to. just depends on time of year. "my 2cents, but that ant worth a penny!" lol
