    Trolling Motor Problem--Question

I just bought a 97 Lund boat is in very good shape. I has a bow mount, foot controlled 24 v Motor Guide Trolling Motor. I can only get the motor to run by setting the switch on the foot control to high by-pass setting HBP, it will not run on continuous or on momentary. Any ideas?

    Thanks

Nope it's not the switch. I will bet that the TM is not a 5 speed, but a variable speed. If that is the case than you have a MOSFET burned out in the motor itself, and now for the very bad news. If this is the case you can only replace the motor head itself with the digial one, they don't make parts for the old one any more. Depending on the size of your motor, one will cost around 380.00. Good luck

Fixed it! Removed the top cover and found a green wire loose. Reconnected and am ready to fish. Can spend the $$$ on gas instead of a new TM.

    Thanks for all suggestions.
