How many of you guys and gals use swivels to attach baits to their line? I personally have never used them and simply tie my line directly to the eye of the bait. Since I use nothing other than spinning gear and am constantly battling line twist I thought this might help. How does it affect the action of particular lures?
Also, I noticed when I cast baits such as spinner baits and crankbaits as my lure flies through the air it is constantly spinning perpendicular to the travel path. It there something inherently wrong with my casting style or is this something that happens to most when casting?

Sometimes I use a swivel is with weightless worms like a trick worm, floating worm or soft jerkbait. And of course the carolina rig. My idea is that one knot is better than two. And I like the line tied directly to the lure in most cases.
I fully agree with Poor Old Hoov... I mean Easy_13.
I use the clips for most baits other than spinners and buzz baits. These are just the snaps not full swiveles, they give the baits a freer action and save time in changeing baits.Just be sure to remember to check your line and retie when needed.
If you are having trouble with line twist use a barrel swivel and about a two to three foot leader. Does not impead bait movement and will eliminate most of the line twist on a spinneing outfit. Three knots are always weaker than one, so take that into account. Palomer Knot everything that you can.
