Hey Danny..you know what model they were? I bought a pair at Wal Mart last year and I haven't had any trouble but I was wondering if they were different models maybe.

Guys,
I wanted to warn everyone about Solar Bat sunglasses...yes I said warn.
I bought two pair at Wal Mart last fall. Since I wasn't fishing, I left them in the bag until this spring, late February actually, and when I got them out, one pair was broken on the arm. No problem I thought, I would just go to WalMart and get a new pair, but they didn't carry them anymore. Again, I thought, well, my problem.
After about 10 trips this spring, my second pair broke on the arm in the exact same place. This time I decided to take action. I went to the solar bat home page and emailed them, and also the Dr. Gary Nester email... the guy who is supposed to have developed them. I did not even get so much as a "***** to be you" reply... much less an apology.
I emailed Dr. Gary again, explaining my extreme disappointment and that I was a very active particpater in this forum and that I would share my experiences if I did not hear something. Still nothing.
So I am sharing... buy these glasses at your own risk because Solar Bat refuses to even acknowledge emails about the obvious default of the glasses I had.
I mean, if they broke in the exact same place, I figure something had to be wrong with the mold. Maybe that is why they sold them through Wal Mart, or maybe that is why Wal Mart quit selling them. However since it had been over 30 days since I had purchased them before I found the first pair broken, Wal Mart's guarantee had expired.
I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER PAIR OF SOLAR BATS!!!! And, I ask that each of you will join me in this boycott.
Thanks,
Danny Weiner

Tip of the day, don't buy fishing many fishing supplies from Walmart. Seems like they get seconds and rejects on alot of products.
i'm not saying this to try and stir anything just stating my own observattion. i buy quite a few things from wal-mart, including solar bat sunglasses, and have never once had a problem with the quality of anything. speaking particually about the sunglasses. i own a pair of renegade glasses and a pair of sloar bat glasses. i've gone through 3 pairs of the renegades since i bought the pair of sloar bats. excellent glasses IMO. i do steer clear of "no-name" tackle as i have had some problems with these way in the past but tname brand stuff seems to me to be just as high a quality as anything that i have bought from BPS. again not trying to stir anything this has just been my observation.
Hey Steve,
I got the ones that were broken when I opened them, they are the Gray lenses, I bought both Gray and Amber. They are GH2 and on the bottom of the package they say sold exclusively at Wal Mart and "tested on the FLW tour", also they have the FLW hook on them.
I respect that Wal Mart sells lots of quality stuff, I am not complaining about Wal Mart. I am complaining about Solar Bats. I mean, I have emailed the company, and Dr. Gary Nester himself... twice... give me a break. If they invite you to email, at least acknowledge their problems. Had they simply apologized, I would likely have not ever started this thread.

The Solar Bat guys are a bunch of $%#%$@#$@s.
I emailed them about four years ago, when just about the only place you could get their product was from their webpage. I saw a couple of models I liked, and emailed to ask them the price. They emailed me back and told me they couldn't tell me the price unless I was ready to order them. They said they were afraid I was a competitor trying to price check. I emailed them back, telling them to stick their glasses where the sun doesn't shine; and that I was pretty sure that any competitor worth this salt already knew what their glasses cost.
A few years later, my fishing partner bought me a pair of the cheap Solar Bats from Walmart. They are the gray frames and amber lenses. I haven't had any problems with them, but I don't wear them that much, either. I prefer an even cheaper pair of Renegade wrap-arounds, lol.
AMy Wife sells sun glasses. She is on the R and D Board this year. I have been giving her all types of ideas. If you tell me what you want I will pass it on to her.
Dude, I hope you are exactly on the level.
My biggest complaint with EVERY pair of sunglasses, even the most expensive, is the way they fog up when I am sweating. I routinely have to remove my glasses, or at least pull them down on the end of my nose and let air into them.
If we are able to make fog free mirrors for showers, surely we can devise fog free sunglasses.
Danny
Danny, put some dish washing liquid on your lenses, inside and out, rub it in, lightly rinse and dry them off. This should take care of your fogging problem.
