How about that creek report, how'd ya do?
UpaCrick and I floated a section well below where the Ky Afield show that aired Sat/Sun was taped(BTW, thanks for the plug guys). We both took the long rods. I took the 7.5 Microlite and UpaCrick brought along the 10 All Pro.The water was low, but it had a little color. I caught a fish on the second cast with the fly. I didn't fish it with a float.
I kept getting tugged and it was hard to hookup. I only brought Chart/white. With all the baitfish scattering the way they did I switched to a white spinnerbait. It brought in a few.
We were downstream about 1/2 mile when UpaCrick said, "I wish I brought my small crankbaits"
Well, I brought mine. Some little husky jerks. I tied one on the 7.5microlite. I stood in one spot at the head of the pool and cast to each side of the currents.
I caught 5 fish. One of them was a fat 17in smallmouth. It took a minute or two to land that thing.
UpaCrick got to tangle with a 14incher of his own. The 10fter was well from the float tube, but a little tough landing them
I lost another one further downstream in the 14-15in range. Fish were really biting...
One thing I noticed about the fly is that I was using 6lb line. It didn't seem to have the action that I was used to on 4lb, but after that 17"er in that riffle. I'm glad I had 6lb, because the inital run of the fish would have broken me off...LOL...
Will probably take another run this weekend after this fresh plug of water gets through.

After spending 3 days a Barren over the weekend in the bright sunny skies, December FNF season at Dale is looking better and better all the time. No sunburn, no jetskis, no skiers, no joyboaters, bring on the Alberta Clippers from the great north. After spending my first 3 DAYS fishing in June, I know exactly why I love night fishing so much this time of year.

Elnut - 100% Amen on what you said, I agree whole heartedly!
Redneck - Man!!! I usually try to watch Ky Afield but missed it this weekend...they did a report on the creek?? Were the Ky Afield crew floating it or were they wading it?
They were wading it. It was cool to hear them mention Billy....
The creek treated me and my buddy well last week. We had 87 total. Several brown fish in the 12-14" range (About 70 of our 87 were smallies). Had a few in the 15" range too.
I hope to hit it again this Friday. I'll post a report.

Fishrgurl, I missed it what did they say about ole Shadrap?
mhall,
This is a paraphrase:
Lee said something to the effect of "I'm going to try a different bait right now. This is a bait that a good friend of mine Billy ____ turned me onto - the sweet beaver..."
