I am not familiar with Herrington, but have been having some luck at Barren River. What lure and techniques are you using?

What's the latest word on the hybrids at Herrington? Are yall having more luck back in the creeks or on the main lake points? Any luck with fishing the jumps?

Calling Shadbat!!! Where you at??? Shadbat gets on those Hybrids at Herrington quite a bit. He'll have some info if he's tuned in...
Yeah, I'm here, but not for much longer. I'm headin out to go to the sandbox in two weeks. A couple of buddies went sunday night, they caught a few hybrids in the creeks on live shad. I'd say your best bet this time of year is to cruise the main lakes and creeks, early and late in the day looking for some "jumps". If you find em, throw a rooster tail or something like that at em.
oh yeah, and smalljaw, what did you catch all of those smallies on at elkhorn?
The sandbox? Did I hear your going over to Iraq? If so, I know I speak for everyone on this board when I say, THANK YOU for serving. Return home safely, brother. We'll hook up and wet a line when you get home!
The smallies were eating big time that day! We had several spit up craws and baitfish during the fight. The bait we hammered them on was a 2.5" Cabin Creek tube with a 1/16 oz. insert head. A couple of colors worked well... I'm going back Friday. Can't wait.
Thanks for the support scott. It's an honor to go fight for this great country. I'm thinking of taking my dad out there one day next week. Let me know how you do tomorrow. The water should be in pretty good shape. We'll definitely go wet a line sometime. We went out to #2 yesterday and caught quite a few bass and a few big channels. Let me know how you do.
hey shatbad you must fish herrington alot to know how to catch them hybrids. how many have you caught this year? what are the best places to catch them in there? how big of ones do you catch usually? i try but i just cant seem to get them.
Big Jim, I can't tell you what the hybrids are doing at herrington right now cause I haven't been in a while. I'm gettin ready to deploy to Iraq. However, I have pretty good idea of how you could catch some. I've heard reports that some people are doing really well right now. If I was you, I'd go out early and late in the day and look for Hybrids in the "jumps." They'll have shad herded up somewhere, sometimes in the creeks, sometimes on the main lake. Throw a rooster tail, husky jerk, top water. Just match the size of shad they are hitting, they can be real finicky. You could also go at night with the same lures or live shad and fish boat dock lights and areas of the main lake. Good luck, let me know how you do. SmllJaw, did you do any good friday?
I've heard the same thing about matching the shad size. People say if the shad are 3" long don't throw a 4" bait. You simply won't get bit. Although I've never tried them for Hybrids, I think a good selection of Storm Swimbaits would work real well. They make them as small as 2" I think... If a guy took some 2", 3" and 4" down there they would surely get hammered!
Shadbat, this past Friday was less of a fishing trip and more of a fun float. I took my wife with me. She'll hang in there and fish with me but she's not hardcore. We caught about 15 or so during our 5 hour float. They just were not eating as heavily as they were on my last trip. I've heard some good creek report lately though... My prayers are with you in Iraq, Brother. Thanks for serving and God Bless You!
Yeah, I've done alright on those storm swim baits. The creek fish do seem to be biting well, I went with my dad on thursday to jesssamine creek and did real well. Betweent three of us, we probably caught close to 70 fish. #2 Bass bite is going pretty good to, we caugth 12 yesterday in about an hour.
I'm ready for #2 if you or Josh extend an invite... Sounds like Jessamine Creek was hot! I have not fished that place in years. I hope to get out and wet a line tomorrow. Taking a half day off.
