    falls of Ohio help for son's birthday fishing trip.

    Hey guys, my son is an absolute fishing addict and his 8th birthday is on Sunday. He's not your normal 8 year old, he handles a 12 foot surf rod as well as I can and could tie an improved albright knot before he could tie his shoes. So for his birthday we are planning on taking him on a shopping spree to the Bass pro in Clarksville on the 4th and were wanting to stop by falls of the Ohio for some bank fishing. Do you guys have any pointers on where to fish there? We've only sauger fished there in the early spring. Is there any chance of catching any stripers, hybrids or whites from the bank? He's dieing to catch a real striper or hybrid, we've white bass fished hard this year and have caught no fewer than 2000 between the two of us but he says catching a 3 pound white isn't the same as a real striper... What kind of lures or bait are producing for these and catfish from the bank? Anything else biting there? Thanks in advance for all your help. Ted

    YES, but right now DON'T GO FISH THERE.

    As of the 6.30.2006 2:00 PM reading they are running 79 feet of dam. Mostly all on the upper site. What this means to those not familiar with the area is that IT'S NOT FISHABLE. The high inflow of water, coming from the huge downpours to the east of us, will crest around 8 or 9 AM Saturday morning, and it will be at least a week of good weather before it's fishable in the area again.

    Sorry. =(

    Happy B-Day none-the-less to the little fellow.

    Keep an eye on the current conditions here:

    When they aren't running 1000 feet of dam at the upper there is bank access up there, but I've only ever boated up so I can't give you much direction. Throw jointed redfins, zara spooks or large swim baits into the white water.
