    wake board tourns. @ Taylorsville????

what is up with all the stupid wake board tournaments at taylorsville here lately??????

2 in the past 2 weeks.

I would like to be able to respect everybodys right to have a tournament of what ever sort but wake boarding??

come on!! maybe i could respect it if they showed us some respect.

Two saturdays ago and this past saturday.

fished in the possium ridge area while this thing was going on might have been exciting to see but the thing that made me mad was the guy on the speaker kept getting on to people that was fishing the lake and pontoon's to slow down, no wake we're trying to have a tournament. please stay off the course.

All reasonable requests BUT WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME THEY SHOWED US ANY RESPECT.

when we fishermen are out there trying to enjoy ourselves either fishing for fun or in a tournament these same people are flying past us much to close and to fast. I'm not really a bank beater i fish pretty far off the bank but the other day 3 or 4 of them ski boat came out the no wake at about the same time and almost washed me up on the bank. i was worried that my trolling motor was going to get broke off.

most of them are young kids out running around in daddy's toys trying to make us mad.

I understand everyone has a right to compete in what ever and the every one has a right to enjoy themselves doing what ever the love to do. but show us the same respect that they want us to show them.

and the #1 way would be to not start a wake board tourn. at 8;00 in the morning. maybe wait until 1:00 pm.

RE: wake board tourns. @ Taylorsville????

I agree with you. Like I said a couple of weeks ago STAY OFF TAYLORSVILLE. let the idiots have it. I refuse to fish on a lake with a bunch of kids on their daddy's boat out there doing nothing but washing away banks. That's why I won't go to Rough, Nolin or Taylorsville between May and September. These wake boarders put extra weight in thier boats to make bigger waves. I have heard of the guy with the Mr. microphone on his boat. He yells at other boats and uses very bad language. It seems that the water patrol would do something about him.

Taylorsville is one big joke in my opinion. Kentucky's answer to a trophy bass lake, HA,HA,HA,HA,HA,HA, I'm still laughing. I'll be glad when cold weather comes back so all the idiots will go home.

Remember Taylorsville started as a larger version of Cedar Creek so look what's in store there. Starts as a good idea and then the party starts.

That's just part of it being public! Lighten up dude! My honey hole was covered up with drag boat racing last weekend! :)

Wish they had publicized the wakeboard tournament. I love wakeboarding!

    respect?

Is this like when the fisherman leaves the small cove my boat is docked in at full throttle creating a huge wake pushing my boat up against the dock ??????

Personnally it seems to me that most everyone on the water only thinks of themselves!

Last time I checked we had paid our taxes just like you. We have hosted this tournment for the last five years and have obtained the permits necessary from fish and wildlife and the state parks.

Not sure about running around in daddy's boat. Our customers are professional business people, that well over half fish and hunt and purchase the license just like you. They just enjoy spending time on the water with their families, something most fishermen do not.

As far as the Boatworks we have hosted fishing tournament and have donated over $2000 to the Crusade for Children in the last couple of years. We also hosted the Fathers & Son trail and work with Kentucky fish and wildlife to keep them on the water.

As for timing you may want to get your watch set to EST. Tournament started at 11.

Make sure when you post your information is accurate.

    Caution.....

Hey folks. Let's use a little caution, and not let this degrade into an all out, name calling arguement. So far, it seems the posts have been well within the rules, but it seems the last few are approaching flaming status.

I don't like to lock threads, or delete posts, but I will do my job of enforcing the board rules.

    RE: Caution.....

Yea Danny...I hear you..but hey as it was already posted,RESPECT is a term most people take way to lightly, wether it be on the lake or at your job,or at home with your spouse...doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out who's fishing and who's wakeboarding on the lake...me personally,if I see a wake board tourny going on,Im going to the opposite end of the lake and finding some new spots and if I'm out riding around the lake with my kids,I'm staying as far away from the guys fishing that I can because I respect everyones right to be there enjoying the water, and just like when your driving down the interstate at 75mph and theres some idiot on your bumper flashing his lights at you, theres always going to be some idiot on the lake flying by your favorite fishing hole or ski area...some people just weren't brought up right

    Right and Wrong

I believe the Wake Board folks do have the right to the lake if they acquire the proper permits. Fishermen can fish year round. The wakeboarders ONLY do this when the water is warm enough that they do not freeze something off.
With that in mind BOTH sides need to have some give and take.
I think part of the problem is when the guys who are fishing run into folks practicing, who do not show the same respect, and Vice Versa.
Both sides need to show restraint and courtesy.
IF there is a Wakeboard Tournament go fish the other end of the lake. IF YOU ARE practicing wakeboarding do not run by fishermen 5 feet off the bank and blow them onto it. (YES it has happened to me) STILL I dont blame all wakers and they should not blame all fishermen.
ALSO it would be nice to post these tournaments on the local discussion boards for the fishermen.. and in turn to check the tournament board the State Put up before either side tries to have a tournament out of the same ramp..
GUYS this is not rocket science. Treat others as you wish to be treated and ALL will be right with the world.. OF FISHING..
