Hi,
Is anyone fished Nolin for walleye and if you did, could you please recommend any particular spots and lures.
Thanks,
Alex
I'm all ears too!!
I wouldn't call myself a Nolin walleye fisherman but I have caught quite a few there over the years. I enjoy fishing Nolin starting about now through the winter. They drop it 25' which can really stack the fish up. If you go down there armed with light tackle and small to medium-sized jigs you can catch quite a few and a variety of fish. I never caught more than several walleyes on the same day but I have caught several 4 lbs and over through time. Also caught a few on crank baits.
As far as spots go walleye seem to like the edge of flats near deeper water. Long tapered points are good areas as well as tapered mud flats with cover such as stumps. I also noted catching more walleyes toward dark rather than in the middle of the day.
The best advice I can give for catching walleyes is to get down there and start fishing. This time of year they are still in main lake areas and deeper sections on the creeks but they move up-river in late-winter to early spring to spawn say February through April.
Good luck,
kc
