    Pumpkin Creek ramp

I haven't been to the Pumpkin Creek ramp on Cumberland for about 4-5 weeks. Last time I was there the "solid" ramp was completely out of the water and you had to cross what I call the "cross ties" at the bottom of the ramp to get the boat in. I know the water is MUCH lower since then - but can you still get a boat in - safely - at Pumpkin Creek now? It's a 2 hour drive for me to get there and I want to fish that end of the lake this weekend.

Thanks in advance for the answer.

    RE: Pumpkin Creek ramp

I was there over the weekend. The ramp is still like you described with a large portion of the cross ties out of the water. There were still 2 lanes open and a bass tournament launched out of there on Saturday without any major problem. The water is down to the point that when you have the trailer in the water the tires will be sitting very near the end of the cross ties. You also have to be careful in that there are mounds of gravel just off to the sides of the launching lanes.

The dam is no better from what I saw when I drove by. From what I could tell there only the far left lane was open with the rest being nothing but gravel even above the water line.

Here is a picture I took on 10-10-05

    RE: Pumpkin Creek ramp

I put in at the dam oct. 31th and yes there is only 1 lane open but no cross-ties or gravel, it was nice, I think there be a lesser chance of dropping off the ramp there, I'll be hitting it alone also, so I want to be EXTRA cautious.
