Barren's on

Fished Barren yesterday afternoon for about 2 hours. Water temp was 55-58 degrees on my temp guage. Nicely stained. Fished the mouth of Skagg's and had a darn good time. Started on a point and broke my Carolina rig off on the first cast. Picked up a crank bait and caught the nicest spot I've caught all year also on the first cast. A nice fat one all of 3 pounds and some change. Fished up and down a sunny bluff and caught 12-15 more spots from bait sized to 14 inches. Missed several more including a couple over 12 that jumped and spit the bait. Lost one I wish I could have seen that pulled plenty of drag before popping loose. Don't know about LM or SM, but the spots are hungry and mean as a snake.

Wow!!! They must have been biting good if you were catching them!!!! LOL!!!!

Just joking---fishing been good all over. What a difference couple of weeks can make. Spent the last 3 days at Nolin and caught many largemouth's,spots, white bass(hybrids--whatever they are) and one huge CARP!!! That one was funny!!! I have had a blast catching them.

Who you pokin' fun at Carpmaster? Actually, there've been days when a big ole carp would be more than welcome. Yatesville last month comes to mind. I'll bet they're tearing it up over there right now though!

    Hey Jim,
Not only is the water at Herrington cold but so is the fishin. Dont know whats goin on. But we will get on some soon I hope. You will be the first to know when I get on some kind of pattern for that big bite. And yes I am glad ya put that C-rig down LOL. Although I am goin to try it for some walleye using a c-rigged crankbait. Any advice on this ? Keep catchin, my friend.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-25-05 AT 10:09PM (EST)[p]All were caught in less than 5 feet of water. Keep that crankbait in contact with the rocks. Didn't see any hybrid schools breaking, but wasn't looking for them, so don't pay much attention to me there.

Dennis, C rigging that crank makes some sense. I was at the Bass Pro Shops tank, and the walleye were literally laying on the bottom. A nightcrawler on an Erie Dearie rig is cheaper if you have to break it off though. Wear 'em out man.
