Wanted: Alberta Clippers
Reason: Drop Water Temp to 50 at Dale Hollow
For: FNF Smallie Action
When: December 7 thru 13th
Why: My one long winter trip to hunt the BIGUNS down. Only looking for One Single 12 pound Smallmouth to drown my bobber.
Any help in getting Mother Nature to bring on the Clipper and then give me nothing but snow spitting, slight windy, overcast, rainy days for the above mentioned 7 days is most appreciated.

I always heard that the best FNF was between 50 and 55 degrees.
I also have heard that it doesn't even work until below 50 degrees. If you check the articles on Charlie Nuckles web site for Bullit Lures, He said he prefers from 50 to 55. I have only gone in Jan, Feb, and March. Always do best in Jan. The more miserable I am the better the fishing.
For me, I will start when the temp hits 52-53 but have the best luck between 45-50. I did catch them last year first week of December when the temp was 55. But had my best luck in late December when it finally got down below 50, thru January.

Maybe we ought to pray for a lot of rain, with the lake being this low, wonder how it will affect the winter fishing, I know the boat launching part will be interesting if we dont get rain,
Hey El, you just don't find too many guys praying for snow and rain so they can get out in it for a week. Maybe I should give you the number to my ex-wife's shrink.
Don't forget I'm taking you up on those lessons. I didn't want to chance breaking your brother-in-law's stuff so I bought what I believe to be a servicable rod last weekend, a 10' Pinnacle. Some of them flies you make would be nice to use though. Are you going to Billy 'nem's rodeo?
Dale Hollow + December + 50 degree water temp + Slight Wind + Overcast + Slight Drizzle + FNF Rod + 6lb Green P Line + 1/16 oz jig + Certain Favorite Spots + Landing Net = BIGUNS, BIGUNS and MORE BIGUNS. Catch so many BIGUNS that we will have to name a magazine after all their pictures, not those BIG-GUNS the other BIGUNS (One particular 12 pound Smallie will be the Centerfold)
Fished thru 3 different hail storms on the 10th of December last year with my Brother In Law. Had the best day of the 7 days I stayed that week. Boated 2 over 5, 3 over 4, 4 over 3 and a few good 2 pounders. Caught 15 total for the day but everyone of them was of good quality.
PS have my own Shrink by the way

47 days left for me until I'm down there for a week....Elnuts...We have a couple more spots oepn for Dale if you and Jim want to get in on it.
But talking about temps after seeing Mr Splitshot catch that 5"4oz LM in the creek the other day in 52 degree water I'' pumped. I know Dale had a degree ot 2 to get there.
Take your vacation in Jan....

Thanks Billy, I'm seriously considering jumping in on that deal for a day or 2, it sounds like a lot of fun.
