Ky River F-n-F
LAST EDITED ON Dec-10-05 AT 08:29PM (EST)[p] Hit the Clay's Ferry pool today with mooseknuckle.... We launched about 9am. It was cold. But after getting bundled up it wasn't bad at all. THere was a steamy fog rolling off the water this am.We didn't catch any fish. We spent a lot of time running those bluffs and looking. We marked tons of baitfish and bigger fish, but couldn't get anything to bite. We're not going to give up. The water depth in those bluffs varied from 19-30ft. Marked a lot of fish and pods of shad anywhere 8-19ft. Water temp at the lock at Boonesborough was 47.7 at 9am. Temp at 3:00pm at the Clays Ferry bridge was 46.9. Looks like the wind hits these bluff pretty fair. Now you will have to rotate them early or late for shade from the sun in bluebird conditions which we had most of the day. Water was extremely clear(for the river) down to about Hall's then slowly got just a little bit of color(not much) at Clay's Ferry. Water is also extremely low. WARNING......Warning....the first bluff on the right going downstream from the no wake zone post the 627 bridge....beware of a big laydown that has come into the lower unit zone since we have these low water conditions. YOU WILL NOT SEE IT IN TIME TO STOP...It's about 20-30yds off the right bank. Real close to the middle...We just happened to be fishing that bluff and backed off the back looking at depths when we saw it...What got us is that we ran close to that same spot on the way down. If we'd hit it, the motor would be gone so BEWARE...
We still have a lot of work to do...
Now the funny part....Come to find out ole Mooseknuckle is a good friend of mine I've know for about 15yrs, but hadn't seen him in about 5-6yrs....It's a small world.
Thanks for the ride Bryan. I had a lot of fun
