    RE: Is board working?

I am just getting everything set up, but so far it is working fine. I have not had any problem with garbles or html (whatever the hell that is!!)

Just adding this to see of the paragraphing is working.

Good job, Peter, I like the new set up fine. I still get confused about the sequence of postings but I think I can figure it out.

    Danny knows

Danny knows how the sequences work. Maybe he'll see his name and chime in here. There is a post from a few days ago from Danny I think regarding this.

    Grumpy....

    ####,

the way the board displays the posts is in the same way it is shown in the thread. This way you can kind of follow the thread, and understand the subsequent posts in context of what they are in reply to. However, if you prefer to look at the threads the way they used to be, in chronological order, as I do... all you have to do is when you click on the "view all" go to the first row of grey above the first post, and click on "View in Linear mode".

Once you do this, the thread will display exactly as it used to. However, before you return to the main topic page, you may want to change back to the threaded view. That way the main page will look like it is supposed to. In the Linear mode, it collapses the threads.

    I hope this helps.

    RE: Grumpy....

Looks like if you want to view the posts from oldest to newest, there seems to be a few errors, if you look at the post for example of the Fish Stories....you'll see that the dates are in oreder for awhile except all of a sudden Aug 1st is out of sequence there amoung July 28 and 29 I believe, where as it should be back down towards the bottom where teh rest of teh Aug 1st posts should be...

Thanks, not trying to complain only trying to help and make everything as smooth as possible....

    msgmills?????

Did you have that issue after you clicked on the radio button that says "linear view"? I did not experience the problem after I hit that button. It would be good to know if this is an occassional problem.

    Thanks 'mills.

    Danny .....RE: msgmills?????

Danny, I don't know how I got mine set up but at the top it does say Linear view, set it the other way as well and it didn't change it at all, I liked it the way it was before...New news was always on top and all old news was on bottom from oldest to newest.... Maybe there is a glitch somewhere.....

    RE: msgmills?????

Since it says Linear mode at the top, it is not selected. So click on that, and it will display the thread the way it used to display it.

One thing though, the linear mode will only show something like 20 messages on a page, and then has a second, or third page as needed.

It does change the way the main board looks though, so I usually change it to linear mode to view the long thread, then change it back before I go back to the main board.

Also in your user preferences, you can choose your "view" preference. I have mine set in "classic". One note, when you change any of your preferences, you have to hit the submit button to make the changes permenant.

You can find this by clicking on user preferences, then you will get a list of things you can change. Each item has a brief description of the things you can change in each area.

Good luck, I think we can get it the way you want it if we work on it.

If you still can't get it to do what you want, email me your number, and I'll call you, or if you prefer, just email me, and I'll send you my number and you can call me. your choice. Just wanting to help.

    Is board working?

    Is the board working OK?

Does any body occasionally get a garbled page (shows some HTML tags)?
I have, and hitting the refresh button on your browser takes care of it.
