Bad thing to a good person

This has nothing to do with fishing and I am probably going to make a few mad at my opinions but here it goes. I have been questioning whether there really was a man upstairs or not over the past couple of years. Coming from someone that was once involved in so many church activities it was not funny that is hard to believe. My opinions have been based on the fact that more bad things have happened to good people around me that makes me wonder. Then today it got even closer to home. I found out that my sister's husband of 13 years, her high school sweetheart, father of their 2 boys under the age of ten has cancer in between his lungs and in his liver. He was told that it is the type that spreads quickly and that he must start treatment immediately to have any chance of prolonging his life. They just moved into their dream home last year and ground was broken last week on their pool installation. Excellent provider, excellent husband and father, why does this happen to him??? This is the 2nd person in our family, my wife's father in law (who practically raised her due to her piss poor real father) passed away 6 years ago from Cancer as well. He was diagnosed in November and passed away in January. Less than 2 months is not how his life should have ended and it is not how my brother in laws life should end either. 2 very good people that have never harmed a sole in their life, working hard every day, excellent husband, father and provider and this happens to both. Makes me move even further away from the fact that their is an afterlife and to the opinion that we die and we are put in a box and placed 6 feet under and that is it. I know this will make several angry or upset on this site and maybe I am typing this to vent a little and maybe there is a part of me that still believes that God exists and he can make miracles happen. Maybe I am reaching out to those on this site that have strong beliefs and will say a little prayer for my brother in law, sister and their 2 sons that will have to face this terrible disease together to try to beat it. Yes they will have our support as well but face facts they are the ones that will suffer more than all. For those that believe in the man upstairs, I ask that you speak to him and ask him to help my sister's family in particular my brother in law. For those that I offended I appologize but I have been of this opinion for a couple of years now and really wonder what it will take to get me back to where I was once many years ago.

It is challenges like these that test our faith.
Without tests of our faith it is just an academic discussion.
There has to be a grade and the tougher the test, the higher the grade I guess.
I can not say I have had as much happen to me. However I do have my problems as do my family.
I have a cousin whose child was born with a hole in its heart, and Downs Syndrome. If you could see the faith his family has for this child and the enormous faith they have you might see that trials and tribulations are part and parcel of having faith. They were so praying for his heart operation when the child developed intestinal problems. Now the operation has to be postponed. Yet they still have faith and love and ask for prayer. In the end all we have is faith. This world is not the end. It is the beginning. Pray, pray for your relative, pray for your family and pray for their health. Sometimes prayers are not answered.
But God can not answer a call that is not made.
    Jim

My prayers will be with you and your family. The man upstairs still works miracles I have seen it personally with my own family and have also took losses that I did not and still do not understand. However he has made me and my family stronger through these trials. You and your family stay strong and continue to believe. Myself and I'm sure the rest of the board will be here to listen when you need.

    me too

I too have had similar experiences, and wonder why. I always tell myself this: Look at how many people are diagnosed with such and die of such every day. And after knowing the millions that do, how is it that I go day after day blessed with a healthy family, then boom, an uncle or aunt in Alabama, a cousin in Chicago, or whereever your family may be, gets the bad news, so when it does happen I realize that I should be thankful for the time we all had in good health, of course this is easier said from me than it would be you. My grandpa died 2 yrs ago and my world came to an end, I cussed the man upstairs for weeks, but then came around, my aunt got double pneummonia in both lungs being a diabetic with neuropathy and was in the icu for a month but luckily came through, I do still mumble a few things sometimes but always believe in the lord and have faith in him and believe that I am blaming the wrong person.
In writing this, I hope i didn't word anything to come out wrong, I feel for you and anyone who has to go through this, and god help the man's soul that is offended by or deletes your post for simple rule conflictions.
I'll pray for a city of angels to keep your family healthy

It's a very hard question to answer, why bad things happen to good people. The answer will not be fully understood until the next life but He gives us a few hints.I believe that HE gives us trials to strengthen us and also to help grow.Bad things happen to everybody that is how HE is a just and fair God.Remember faith always precedes miracles, and miracles do happen. Now things don't always turn out the way we like, but there is a lesson to be learned. My prayers are with you,and especially your brother-in law and his family.

RE: Bad thing to a good person

I was raised in a Catholic family, and my parents, especially my father is still involved in the church, unlike myself, until recently. After high school, I sort of just quit on it. I hate to say it, but I guess I turned my back on my religion, and God. I also have a lot of trouble understanding the kinds of things you wrote about. Especially in the recent months. My father has spent the better part of the last year fighting lung cancer caused by Asbestos. The hardest thing I have ever done was to watch my Dad, the only hero I have ever had in my life, go through that torture. He is doing well now and we expect to have him around for quite some time. My wife has gotten me back into the church as she is a devout christian, and I am starting to understand some things, but not all. Hopefully in time it will come. These days I just feel like I have no choice but to believe that God has a plan for us all, and that we just aren't meant to always know what that plan is. I thank God every day for both my parents and the recovery my Dad has made. I hope for the best for you and your's, and I will keep you all in my prayers.

That is a tough spot to be in. I will definitely pray for all of them. Most of us have probably experienced similar circumstances either in our own lives or ones close to us and can relate to what you are feeling. My family has been through miraculous recoveries and untimely passings. In my line of work, I see it quite often. But there is no doubt God exists and is present in our lives. What would be the point of helping yur neighbor if there was no God? There is a root of goodness in everyone. That root has to come from somewhere. Jesus and many others were quite young when they were taken from this world. But life here is just a vapor in time. We have many more painless moments somewhere else. Sunrise on Dale Hollow is a good reminder of the existence of someone greater than our understanding. That sort of beauty doesn't just happen. EL, I don't know you at all, but I will be praying for you and yours.

    God Bless, W.E. Tucker

    2 Peter 3:8
"But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day."

I lost my best friend 3 years ago in a traffic accident. He was a devout Christian, who introduced me to hunting, and fishing, teaching me most of what I know. Nothing about it made sense to me.

It was, and still is difficult to comprehend. Our concept of time, is different from God's. I can only hold on to the the thought, that he was a leader, and beat me in the race to heaven, just like he beat me in everything else. One thousand years from now, I guess it won't matter much, that he left the earth 20 or 30 years earlier than what would have been expected.

I have to chime in on this one because it is a great question and one that can only come from a believer. I will probably get deleted again but OOOOO well You ask, why does these things happen to good people. I welcome the opportunity to talk to you about this in detail but in a nut shell, until you are a born again christian you are not held accountable for any of your sins. for only those who have been anointed will be judged but more to the subject trails and tribulations are for gods people. so yo have to believe to be challenged by God. I believe you can live a near perfect life and even go to church every sunday and not be in the will. but being a good person doent get you to heaven. So in order for god put trials of faith in your life you are already in the book of life.

RE: Bad thing to a good person

Being a born again person doesn't promise us life is all rosy. it
does promise to put no more on us than we can bare. God gives us
a brotherhood with Christ Jesus. We have to educate ourselves as
what being an heir of God promises us.This life is a preperation
ground for us to add brethren to Gods Kingdom. It's like God is
crochaing (spelling) a path for our life on a cloth. It looks good
on his side,up in Heaven, and makes a perfect picture. We are on
the bottom side ,it sometime makes no sense to us.but one day with
Gods grace when we meet up in Heaven we'll all understand.Praise
God,Pray, put on the full armor of God, The devil seeks to destroy.
The devil doesn't have to go after a non believer because he serves
no one.He is allways after someone that serves God ,he casts dought
and gets him away from God he distroys that person, their testamony,
their family, and possibly everyone around them maybe for years.
Lay your treasures in Heaven where no one can distroy.God will help!
    Ask you will receive!!!!
