    History Lesson

I haven't been around this board too long, but I truly enjoy reading the posts and I have learned a lot from others on here. I was just curious as to how to how fishin.com started, when it was started, and who the master minds are behind this addiction.

    RE: History Lesson

I've been here since August 2000. That's when I joined the net. Being a hillbilly and all we didn't have a cornputer when I grew up...lOL...

I think it's been online since 95-96 Maybe....

But it does have a lot of history.

    RE: History Lesson

I first started visiting the board in 1997 or 1998. Not sure which year, the only way I know that for sure is the Company I was working for at the time and I remember spending lunch hour visiting the site and trading emails with Jim D.

I also remember the boat wars, personal fueds and the annual argument over spring time sight fishing that ensued for the first few years all too well! LOL!

The board was pretty wild back then, but even with the side tracks of the wars there was always good information available. IMO folks were more open to giving out information, a lot of people back then didn't forsee how the internet (and this site) was going to grow. Nor how many people were looking at this site and how that info was getting diseminated and used or abused.

Since then the board has really grown and matured. But, I think everyone would agree that the KY board is the most active and has the most contributors of all the boards, not sure why that is but the activity on the KY board is much heavier than the other 2 closest boards, Indiana and Tennesee.

    RE: History Lesson

i'll definetly agree that this is by far the most active board. i just checked out the indiana board and there were like 4 posts since the beginning of the month. it seems a little difficult to get people to answer your questions unless you are well known on here but the information exchanged has proven quite valuable for my little over a year on this site.

Didn,t this,( Fishin Line ) used to be a magazine that could be picked up at local tackle stores? The one I used to get had the phrase, Wanted Loud Mouthed Local Boy. This was before everyone had computers. Boy, I feel old.
