    New River /GreenBrier Trip.....

    http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/166/imgp1177dp0.jpg

I walked on water that day.Look at the Bronzeback F-n-F rod. I fished one of my 1/8oz hairjigs and a 1/16 F-n-F jig on the Greenbrier last Wednesday with that rod. Biggest I got was a 14" smallie, but I caught 50 fish that day. Those river fish are strong.

    More soon.

Those that haven't seen the New at Hinton, have no idea just how big it is. The bridge below Bluestone was like driving across WolfeCreek Dam.
It's going to take a couple of trips over there to learn that water a little better.

Born in Dunbar and grew up at Falls View...at the falls of the New just above where the New and Gauley come together to form the Kanawha.

Wow, what a small world -> have fished the falls since i was old enough to hold a pole. my wife is from Jodi (her parents are still there) and i would surmise you know exactly where that is. i grew up in charleston but fished with my dad and grandfather on the gauley, new, elk, and kanawha rivers. nice to know about another WV native and thanks for all the posts. have only been to KY lake 1 time and it was a great trip. considering returning this fall.

Have never had the opportunity to fish while I was there, but have rafted both the New and Gaully rivers. Great trips. Did you catch any of the golden trout that are in the river?

I don't think I was far enough upstream for the trout.

We camped and fished the New, Gaulie, and one called Meadow Ck. (I think) several years ago. Fishing was the same then. Lots of fish, not much size, but the most beautiful setting on the planet. We also went to a tail race somewhere in the area one day and caught several rainbows and a couple of the golden trout. (which I think is just an albino rainbow, but could be wrong) Always wondered why the smallmouth don't seem to get very big there. I guess I need to go back and FIND the bigger ones.

Well fellows keep talking and we'll have enough to take a trip over there. It really won't take a lot to get me to go back.
I have some awesome resources over there.
