Jim,
If my health allows it, I plan to be there. My wife and I have been discussing this. I saw the first post and we both think this is a very worthy and wonderful cause.
If God is willing.... I'll be there.
Tight lines and God Bless

How many of you will set aside a day to help with this project...
Heck.. you can fish too, but you get to do it with someone who put his life on the line so YOU CAN FISH. How about it?
On Saturday night, there will be a music show at Paris State Park, that will feature Jerry Reed, Tana Tucker, Brian White, Porter Wagner and others. This show will be sponsored by ABA to help say Thanks for the Soldiers of the 101st. We are expecting over 1000+ soldiers that will be taking part in "Take a soldier fishing". This is our way of saying thanks to the men and women that have provided us our freedom.
The American Bass Anglers need boaters assistance. They will be hosting a "take a soldier fishing day October 14, 2006 at Paris State Park, Paris,TN on Kentuck lake. The ABA is sponsoring this event and their is no cost other than the boater take a soldier from the 101st Airboune Division. These soldiers are returning from overseas and have provided us with the freedom to enjoy what we love..FISHING For more information you can call 1-888-203-6222 or check online at www.americanbassanglers.com.
You do not have to be a member of ABA to come and take a soldier fishing.

Jim Thanks for posting for me, I don't know what happen, I checked
my cookies and they were ok. Maybe I burned them!!!! anyway thanks again this is pretty important as we are trying to get as many soldiers as possible to go fishing..
I found this floundering on the second page. Your post worked.. I just changed it a bit to see if we could get some responses.
Dave Stewart, do you know of some guides who might help with this project?
I will give FREE advertising to any guide who helps out on Fishing Guides Home Page.
Jim
Hey Jim,
I'm glad you brought this back to the front page. That is why I took the liberty to "Pin" this to the top. I hope you don't mind my taking the liberty to pin it up here to make sure it gets the attention it deserves.

My brother was in the 101st, released on medical discharge. he got hurt in iraq. i'm going to talk to him about this. he doesn't fish much but i think i can talk him into it. he may not because he's still having A LOT of trouble with the whole war thing but i'm going to talk to him.
dpage70,
make sure your brother knows how proud we are to have great men/women like him from Kentucky.
This is a great idea, unfortunately I no longer have a fishing boat. I would be willing to take anyone out on my ski boat for a day of cruising/tubing/whatever!
Jim: The best way to try to get some guides from down here would be to get on www.kentuckylake.com and look under the guides listing...you could also contact Paris Landing State Park Marina and ask them for a list of standing guides that work out of there..they would be right there at Paris.
Will do and Thanks Dave.
It does not matter what they fish for or how they fish, I'm sure you could fish from your boat or a pontoon for that matter...It's all about taking a soldier fishing and thanking them fore what they have done for us....
this does not really apply to the fishing day but if your brother is having trouble with what he has been through, have him check around or you could and find the local Disabled American Veterans DAV chapter. We are a group of Vets who have all been hurt while on active duty. There are members from nearly every military action since WW1 and there are still a few of those dough boys still kicking! The organization also provide all kinds of services for it's members for just about anything a veteran needs. There are National Service Officers who assit in getting beifits started or increased if there has been a change in the vets health. Also chapters provide bus service to those needing a way to the VA hospitals. We also help each other just by listening to each other. Some times you just need to talk to some one who has been there too.
So thank your brother for me, he answered the call that no one really wants. He is not alone a soldier always has a brother he has yet to meet. I hope he can find his peace real soon.
