I probably wouldn't go for it. Typically I have my tackle and gear ready to rock a good week in advance. You might cash in on a two event. Usually after day one, there's always something I need for day two.
Just my thoughts on it.

1.I'd check out the tourneys and where they're at.
2.In those same areas, I'd check out the local bait shops.
3.Certain products offered have certain guidelines.
4.Keep the trailor painted one solid color with no logos on it.

I personally think it would be a good idea. It seems for me and several others that I know of are always looking for a couple more of a certain bait the night before the tournament. It seems that there is always something you forgot to stock up on before going to a tournament. If I saw such a set up the night before a tournament or after the 1st day of a tournament I would defenately check it out. Even if someone doesn't need sometheing they are likely to make a purchase simply looking at the fact that most buys are nothing but impulse buys just because something is there in front of them. I am speaking for myself and others as I know numerous people who dont need something but they just buy it because its there in front of them. I'd say go for it but that's just my opinion. Good Luck! Hope to see it at my next tournament lol!
I can take this a step farther, we have 2 Mobile Tackle Stores so I am a bundle of info. If you friend is going to try and do this to make money, its VERY VERY HARD. We have had our trailers at numerous events the past 4 years and they don't come close to breaking even when you factor in time, gas, lodging, etc. And $10,000 is a likeable number, but it's about $40,000 low if you want to have a good selection. The only way to do it right and make some sales is to have the best selection and product, which is at least $50,000 in product. Your trailer could go from $6,000-$40,000 depending on size and how fancy. If you friend is really serious, tell him to call me and I'll give him solid advise.
You might ask why we have one if it looses money, ADVERTISING. Our trailer is meant to do 1 thing, promote our store and hopefully sell enough tackle to pay the expences.

Matt, your opinion is always appreciated and respected by me. The guy I am refering to is the same one I e-mailed you about. He bought a jig company out of Arkansas. I don't know why his all of sudden interest in making a living in the fishing industry, but who knows. The jig company I wish I would have invested in after seeing the customer list today of stores he supplies:-( Maybe if you have time when I bring him down to meet Gary so he can show him his product for consideration you can spare a couple minutes and slap him in the back of the head and set him straight!!!

You might also check to see if you will need a business license to operate in different areas. Just because you have a license to operate in Kentucky, doesn't mean you can legally set up and operate in Indiana, or Ohio. I know for a fact that one particular mobile tackle store has had some major problems in certain areas of the country.
Some local tackle shops that may benefit from major tournament events dislike the idea of someone else getting the business of anglers who are not from the area, when they would normally see an increase in sales for that particular weekend.
Great idea, and its being done in many areas. Just make sure all your ducks are in a row.
Plapps is'nt the only people on this idea allready, Backwaters also has a mobile tackle shop hitting the turney trail......Happy huntin
If you want to stay freinds DONT GO IN BUSINESS with him!!

Thats what happened huh? Does he still take it to the Midwest Classic? I know i used it when i fished the Midwest, i loved it, like a kid in a candy store.
Doubt it, all the inventory went back into the store. I think it would be hard to stock it for one event.
If you need a driver / tackle salesman, I have done both and still have my CDL. I could use some part time work .. weekends at tourneys etc.. and that would allow me to report on more tournaments too.
Factor in a Lap Top to keep up with the site during the off hours and I could probably drive and work on the websites at the same time, plus I could actually meet some of the guides I work for. OR just a fill in driver for a week if someone gets sick, or needs a vacation or has a family emergency.. I can usually run at the drop of a hat lately.. UNLESS another hacker gets into my website and deletes it again.. LOL>
