    Tough Fishing

Is it just me or has fishing been pretty tought at Nolin, Rough and Barren in the last two weeks. It's nothing like last fall. I had some awesome days on the lake last fall. But this fall has been terrible for me. How are you guys doing?

    RE: Tough Fishing

I fished both Rough and Nolin this weekend and they were both tough. Nolin was a little better on Sunday than Rough on Saturday. I had several fish at Nolin with the best being close to 3".

    RE: Tough Fishing

For me this fall season, the fishing has been off, but look at the rain and weather changes we have had. We have had a lot of water and the cold spells have early this year. I have talked to a number of fishermen who have been fishing deeper than usual with the drop shot technique and have done little better than most. The fish are not hitting aggessively, even on top water right now as for as my observation.

Where are they drop shotting? Are they in deeper standing timber points or what? Hopefully the bite will turn on a little when the lakes get closer to winter pool and the weather stabilizes for more than 2 days. Is this the year the corps. is leaving Rough at winter pool all year?

Man, it's been tough everywhere I've been in the last 30 days or so. Summer to Fall transition is always tough for me to figure out. This year has seemed tougher than ever! Maybe they'll come around in November?

I talked to a guy at Cumberland and two guys who have been fishing Dale, and they were drop shotting points with baby bushhogs and small hair jigs and were catching SM and Kys. I never have tried that combination, but they seem to have done well on them.

    RE: Tough Fishing

i can usually find some active fish on rough but saturday i didnt do worth a crap. 3 bites all day. that lake was horrible shape. the water looked like chocolate milk all the way to the dam. i did better on nolin last weekend. i might try barren this weekend. this weather is just wrecking things. i cant remember the last time the water temps were hitting in the 50's before november even gets here. if it keeps this up they'll be heading for the wintertime areas by the middle of november

    Cold Temps!

I'm blaming these cold temps on Elnut and Shadrap. They've been praying for Alberta Clippers for the last 2 months so they can float n fly.LOL

    RE: Tough Fishing

I was on Nolin during the week of the 11-14th really nasty weather but had some great fishing days. I had one twenty plus day and two in the teens, and one skunk (the first day).

I was cathing good numbers on northern main points, working up stream to the the middle of the point. I was throwing a T-rigged twin tail hula grup in a translucent white with mixed glitter. 1/4 ounce weight on the calmer days 1/2 on the windier days. I would drag it of the diffrent rock shelves and they would crush it on the fall. Not huge fish, one spot over 2 but most of the others were LM in the 1-2lbs category.

Don't know if this helps but thought I would throw it out there for ya.
