Brad Roberts and Bobby Eldridge won . They said they where throwing a Cumberland Pro Lures procaster jig. Must be something to that because Keith Munson won the Bullet tournament the week before and he was also throwing that jig. I think they were throwing a cumberland craw color or something called a naked craw. Anyway I have used those jigs and man they really fish good. They come thru cover and when you stick a fish it stays stuck. For anyone who knows Keith Munson it would have to be a good jig or he wouldn't throw it.

I think I have seen this jig befor on the line of a well known jig fisherman. I was at KY Lake and was looking at a jig that was tied onto a guys line. I asked him who made it and he said that he gets them from a guy somewhere. He really did not want to give me much info about the jig. He just said that if this jig ever gets out that a certain bait company that he has used for over 20 years would never be able to sell another casting jig. I asked him why it was different and he said that the shape of the head has a different fall and that the angle of the hook and the hook itself puts more fish in the boat. I know it must be this jig because he is a friend of Monson. This guy is very high up in the largest tournament organization around. I did not understand why such a secret. How can I get some of these jigs?

Yea that would be Mr Taylor. Lake Cumberland Pro bass has them on hwy 90 going toward Conley Bottom. If they don't have the size or color you want just ask Greg there at the store he can get them. The jigs are made right there in Burnside Ky.

Do you guys honestly believe this certain jig is what makes these guys so good? If so, Im sorry but you are wrong. If you are speaking of Keith Monson, the specific jig is not what catches his fish. Keep in mind that Keith travels around the country fishing different waters every week. He knows how to react when fish are doing one certain thing, or what not to do in some occasions. Given tha, Im sure its a good jig, but its the fisherman that makes the jig, the jig doesnt make the fisherman. The reason that some of these guys get so stuck on one jig is because of the feel factor. A weathered jig fisherman knows what Im talking about. Some jigs detect cover better than others. For me, there is one jig that I can fish. With any other jig, I just cant tell what my bait is doing as well. For ex., with this certain jig I can tell if I am pulling over rock, gravel, grass, wood, metal etc. I can tell the texture of the bottom with this jig. With any other jig or head style I cant do it as well. Same goes for the detection of bites. When you get so confident and comfortable with one certain type of jig, then thats the one that you need to throw. Just my 2 cents, take it as you wish.

Did not say that was what made him so good . Just reported what the winners said they caught them on, Also I said that is what Mr. Monson uses which might make someone guess that it is a good bait!!!Bet your boots even if it felt good and Keith was losing fish on them he wouldn't throw that brand of any kind of lure very long...

Thanks for the info. Sounds alot like what that weathered jig fisherman was talking about. I have never tried one of those jigs. I could not even find out who made them and where to get them. Guess he thought it was something he did not want me to know about. That gets me to thinking that this jig is more than just a piece of lead with a skirt on it.

Drew, You are absolutly correct........There is a lot of factors that effect the end result but confidence in your bait is 99.9% necessity.

You can bet your boots if Kieth thought the jig felt good he wouldn't be loosing fish on them.
You can think yourself right out of a tournament, and if Kieth is catching fish on a certain jig I surely don't want to be using the same because I'll be fishing for 2nd.
Kieth knows the water better than most and makes the most of his time by putting himself where the fish are......Trex

Hate to bust your bubble Trex but if Monson is fishing the same tournament you are, you are fishing for second anyway !!!!

i wasnt trying to offend anyone, just stating that its not the jig you throw, its what you know and what you do with the jig.
