Hey guys, have you read up on the CBAA lately? They have now listed their membership requirements. Seems kind of outrageous to me considering Fox and Smash-Mouth College Tournaments are done free of charge....
What are your thoughts on this having to be a member of CBAA, TBF, and FLWOutdoors???? I would be all for it if it was very much like the CAST format, but paying all those membership fees for a shot at a regional/national tournament and still having to put on qualifiers all on your own?? Are you kidding me?! I really question whether or not they know what they are doing........any TBF guys out there have any clue about this?

Its a bunch of garbage, some of the teams can participate if they like, but no thanks. I mean they are claiming to be the "sanctioning body" of college fishing on what authority? Did they call dibbs and I missed it? Their national rankings are absolute GARBAGE, I mean, of all the college teams I have met, NC State has probably some of the best fishermen and their organization and what they give back to the industry is ridiculously good and they ranked them like 6th right ahead of us. Right now we are a big 4 members strong and havent cracked the top 5 in a college competition yet. They did get EKU up there where they belong but thats the only thing they did right. They claim to be doing everything out of the goodness of their hearts but from what experience I had with them its like there is a hidden agenda there. They can do their thing, we dont wish to be apart of it. We are not going to join the fLW, TBF, BASS, or whatever just so I can be apart of their little organization, Im going to do those things if I choose. I would just steer clear of them, they dont really have anything to offer anyways other than gaurenteed non-boater spots in the BFLs, and last time I checked those are too hard to find. I just want to say to them "Well....WHOOPIDITY DOO"
Kyle,
You hit the nail right on the head and have confirmed my thoughts as well. I told Troy I would help in guiding their organization in the right direction based on college angler feedback and what we would like to see and serve as an advisory person, but they really don't seem to care what the college angler thinks. Like you said, they seem to have a hidden agenda.
I dont have a claim in this discussion. But I noticed on the FLW webpage on the TBF link. IT looks like they all hooked up together with the CBAA back in April of 06. I saw an article there. Sounds like someone may have dropped the ball on communication if you guys that are involved in it are just now getting wind of it. Like i said I have nothing involved with it but thought I would pass that on to you guys if you had not seen it. I think the CBAA is an excellent organization and if they had that when I was in school maybe I would have done better in class. Hey... I did learn how to drink a beer while standing on my head so it wasnt a total loss. Good Luck with it guys.......
No, we got a memo the day after the deal went through, they made good and sure of that. As far as the organization making you do better in class, please explain, they dont do anything.
nothing to explain...it was a joke or apparently a poor one. I just meant it would have been nice to have something better to be involved with when i was in school like a bass club which i think is a great deal instead of spending all my time majoring in fluid consumption.
this discussion is getting fired up over on the JM forum, looks like they P O ed NCST too.
I checked it out. Nice post on there! Any word yet from EKU on when and where they are looking to have this year's Battle in the Bluegrass? I'd like to see the ball get rolling on that........
Also, do you think there's a possibility that since BASS is hooked up with the ABA that maybe a CAST format could be put in place to act as qualifiers for Smash-Mouth? I think that would really be a good thing! Shoot, if they would just designate two or three tournaments as qualifiers rather than all of them, it could easily work! It would definitely help us with all of the non-boater members we have.
I give the CBAA a big two thumbs down! They would really have to work to make up for the "Bluegrass Booyah" junk they pulled.
