There are many of us sick twisted Smallmouth fishermen around. I seem to remember one post last year (maybe Redneck) that waded a creek somewhere and the water temp was below 40 with the air temp in the 20's just around the New Year of 2006. I have launched with the air temp below 15 and windchill in negative numbers, fished thru 3 different hail storms the same day 3 years ago, fished in the rain, sleet, had the boat covered with 2 inches of snow that fell throughout the day, even fished one day in the ice cold rain (and I do mean ICE COLD and it NEVER quit raining) with air temp in the upper 30's with about a 10 mile an hour wind blowing and my rain suit had a hole in it so I got ABSOLUTELY SOAKED but never left the water until dark even though I only got one bite all day long, but did catch a real nice cold. Night fished in December at Cumberland (BRRRRRRR), I put in sometimes at 3 and 4am in the winter at Dale to try the night bite in December and January looking for that 12 pounder. I agree one sick, twisted, DEDICATED or (STUPID as my wife says) Smallmouth fisherman and I will announce it to the world if the 12 pounder was to land in my net. You may hear me screaming from Dale all the way to your part of the world without the need of this message board. Now bring on that one last ALBERTA CLIPPER before November 27 to get the water temps down there just a few more degrees. Besides, the colder nastier rainier snowier sleetier it is the better the Smallies love it and the more lake I have to myself for the Twisted Dedicated Smallmouth Fishermen Wanna-bees are home cozy in front of the fire.

Elnut, you are one tough smallmouth alien. You must have ice water in your veins like an amphibian with bronse scales. I can see myself fishing the cold water of Dale, and see the Amphibian Man rise out of the cold water with the world record clinched in his teeth.
Hey Billy you and Elwood don't forget about laurel. Thats where I'll be this winter looking for the same thing. Been some awful nice brownfish caught this year and it did hold the state record while the old record was on hold and let me tell you that was one heck of a fish. Good luck to all on your quest. Just a thought how about a F-n-F big fish tourny this year. Elwood on Dale, Billy on Cumberland, me on Laurel. Pictures shown with size and weight,I,m sure no one would stretch the size any lol. Biggest fish of the season wins braggin rights for their home lake. Maybe a lure or two.
DC,
I'll be coming to Laurel a few times this yr. I have a couple of buddies in Corbin. I'll shoot you an email when I come down. Go a nice little pattern I tied just for Laurel.

Just let me know when billy. Be nice to put a name to a face. I,m there at least once or twice a week. Got what I think will be some great f-n-f banks. can't wait to give it a try.
Where do you stay on Dale, Elnut? I would just like to meet you and shake your hand. Son and I will be at Horse Creek Thanksgiving weekend, and the FnF get together also. Black and silver Stratos 21 Extreme SS, 225 Johnson.

Not half as thrilling as your running the rollers with me at night on Ky Lake though...lol. Good luck on Dale Elwood...I am gonna try to get her here on Ky but I am not goin in any cold wet nasty weather so my odds are not as good..lol.
Let me tell you guys something about Elwood; I've known him pretty much all my life and he was sick and twisted way before he caught smallie fever. I recall a time when he was almost as passionate about golf as he is fishing; so he gets me on the golf course when it was 30 degrees and spittin snow. I swear the man was wearing a pair of shorts and a golf shirt! Come to think of it, I think we had the course to ourselves, just like he'll have the lake to himself. Except this year I'll be tagging along trying to learn a little and man the net.
