    CARPET REPAIR!!!!

Hello all, new here, was suggested I use this site by a friend. he assures me that SOMEONE here repairs carpet at a fair price. Boat is a 96 Ranger Comanchee - and some odd spot and color change on the top decks - the darkest SPOT, on the FLOOR turned into a BIG HOLE when I pivoted on my knee there yesterday - SO - only the bottom of the boat - not the front or rear decks, HAS to be redone- repaired or SOMETHING - alas, that carpet wraps up onto the sides of the console, the rod locker, the seats, etc... I know this isn't a little job and that matching carpet is NOT a possibility. It has darkened to a mostly black color from it's once charcoal youthful appearance. BUT I am on a TIGHT BUDGET until the grass starts to grow and I don't have to FEED so many cows!!!!! Won't get time off again to fish until January - not really in a hurry - ALSO need a new (to me) waterproof travel cover for the girl. she can't live in the barn anymore- the mice, feral cats and racoons are DESTROYING HER!!!!! it might have been VARMIT WEE that ruined the fibers!!!!!

PLEASE feel free to give me ANY contacts, ideas or suggestions. I live in the central KY area but travel to northern KY and west-central area. DUCT TAPE WON'T DO IT RIGHT!!! I need HELP PLEASE!!!!

MANY THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND ENERGY!!!!

    RE: CARPET REPAIR!!!!

I did my boat myself last winter. Looks real good. You can get small pieces of carpet for patching or a whole roll for the entire boat at a good price from marinecarpets.com. They mostly have the good 20 ounce carpet. Look on the sale page. They usually have a lot of charchoal colors.

    RE: CARPET REPAIR!!!!

Have done two this year including my own and I find it to be a great "time killer" when weather is too bad to fish. Found good carpet on clearance at an online discount store and was shocked at how quickly once i got started it took. Saved alot of money doing it myself and actually enojoyed the nights that my buddies brought "uhh" cool drinks and helped out while listening to "the one that got away". Take the time and do it yourself.

For what doug charges and quality i hear guys say on here you won't save much doin it yourself especially if you mess up a cut.if it is a 96 model and the carpet is coming apart anywhere like that save the money to replace all of it.My stratos is a 96 it started getting like that last spring and i fixed a spot and the problems keep going give it to him for a week and you'll be money ahead that's where mine is going when tax money comes back.

    RE: CARPET REPAIR!!!!

Hi Dacelle, first I want to say thanks to the guys that talk well about me and these that didn`t well I hope your boats sinks!,,:P LOL Just kidding guys. I know the kinda boat you have. It`s some what like Dave Stewerts R91 It`s a pain in the but for sure. You have to uphoster the sides where it runs up a little bit. It`s not like most bassboats at all. I`ll do you a nice job. If you like get ahold of Dave on here and ask him how it looks. I can get carpet here to come close. Let me know one day and I`ll ride down or you bring it up here. I live in Shepherdsville. Thanks again to all.

    RE: CARPET REPAIR!!!!

Don't have to look for me..I'm here....Doug did a very good job on my carpet. I am a full time guide and on the water basically 7 days a week from March thru November...Doug did my boat last winter and the carpet held up very well this season, as a matter of fact it looks like he just put it in. You can imagine how much abuse it takes by being in the sun, rain etc...and having clients in it every day not to mention how many times I spill coffee etc on it...lol. Give Doug a call, you won't be disappointed.

    RE: CARPET REPAIR!!!!

Hey Doug, I have seen your name pop up anytime someone mentions carpet for a boat. I am sure you do an excellent job. I have a 2002 Triton TR186. It is in need of a good cleaning/sprucing up. All the nap (sp?) is lying down. I have a household carpet steam cleaner that I am considering using on it; however, I just wanted to check and see if you do this type of work as well. I do not want to simply spray it down at the local car wash, scrub and let dry for various reasons.

    RE: CARPET REPAIR!!!!

Hi Tr186, well to tell you the truth I`ve never been asked to clean carpet in a boat. I clean my carpet with a garden hose with no soap. The soap will get down in th carpet and stay there and the next time your in a pouring rain here comes the suds, plus the soap just holds the dirt and it gets dirtier faster. The nap-fibers now adays are very stain proof and a good hard clean water will wash the dirt out. If you do have a stain use some Resolve or Spot shot and let it work for a minute or 2 and don`t rub it off,,,,,take a towel or paper towels and wick it up,,,then raince. I was a carpet installer for 30yrs(got out of that thank God) and thats how we removed stains. If your nap don`t stand back up use a good vac on it and that will help strighten the fiber up.
