    Ohio River warm water discharges?????

I have only fished the river from the bank at the Dams but would like to get out on it more in my boat. I would really like to get into some fishing around the warm water discharges this winter. Problem is that i really don't know where they are. I have heard about them but never actually went to them. I would really like to get into the stripers and catfish too. Would love to be able to pull up and anchor up and throw out poles for cats and then cast for stripers while waiting. I don't even know if there is a place that i can do that so any input would be great. I know onemorecast one here says he kills the stripers down by louisville and i would even drive there but need to have someone who knows the river from how it sounds. Well thanks in advance. Any help appreciated.

RE: Ohio River warm water discharges?????

About 5 or 6 years ago I fished the warm water discharge from Milltown LG&E. I'm not sure if you can still fish there or not. We caught about 60 hybrids and whites in two hours of fishing. They were only 1 and 2 pounders but a lot of fun.

I've only fished the Ohio once and it was late Feb. We put in on the New Albany side of the river. We found an area that was quite abit warmer than the rest of the water and wore out some good hybrids and stripers. When we put it we went away from town. (maybe south? If you were facing the river from the louisville side it's to the left) Not far down the river (on the right side) there is a big industrail looking place that I think is used to scoop coal out of barges. If you fish around there you will find some warmer water. We caught all of ours on crankbaits and rattletraps. Color really didn't seem to matter much. Good luck.

Hey Tom,,you ride down here and I`ll take you out. Just put gas in the boat and its on! Been doing pretty good latey. I`ll take the Stratos F/S so we can stay warm while running and I`ll show all the discharges.
