From 8am - 12:00 fished Jamestown (main lake cuts, mouth of major creeks) area for smallmouth. FNF & JIG. Not a bite.
Water temp: 48.2 - 49.8
Water color: Gin clear
Weather conditions: Mostly cloudy warm
12:00 - 4:00 Fished backs of major creeks around wood(heavy wood).
Water temp: same
Water color: slight stain (could see a black & blue gig about 1.5' - 2'
down)
Weather conditions: same
Caught 3 keeper LM, 2 keeper KY'S, 1 Throw back LM. Had 2 more bites.
Two keys I feel for this trip:
1. Heavy wood
2. Moving the jig extremely slow.
Moving the jig slow I found out by mistake. I had cast into a heavy wood pile and moved the jig a couple of times. Then nature called suddenly,
great timing. Hit the thumb bar release and laid the rod down, took care
of nature. Picked the rod up moved the jig about two inches and got a bite. Just a keeper, got all my bites and caught the rest of the fish moving the jig extremely slow in heavy wood.
