Tough Day on Dale Hollow Friday & Saturday

Fished all day friday and some saturday and caught 0 fish. I had one pull down on float and fly and no hookup. Fished everywhere, every type of structure, main lake points, secondary points, and so on. I threw everything in the tackle box and could no get a fish to hit. The lake temp was 48 about most the day friday and 49-50 saturday. Did anyone out there do any good on those days. Did talk to one other fisherman at the dock and he said the only thing he can get them to hit is shiners close to the main channel adjacent to main lake points. HE also said fnf bite is not on right now , but that still didnt stop me from throwing it about half the day..lol... Anyone been doing any good??? The past month i have been catching fish on fnf now i cant even buy a bite... I guess thats why they call it fishin not catchin.

RE: Tough Day on Dale Hollow Friday & Saturday

I fished all day on Friday out of Dale Hollow State Park. I had seven bites on the F-N-F and boated five nice smallmouth (4 lbs 1 oz, 4 lbs 1 oz, 3 lbs 14 oz, 3 lbs 12 oz, and 2 lbs) and had one heavy fish pull off and one break off pulling drag. The bite was decent but it should get better after the water temp drops a few more degrees. I fished only shady banks up the creeks and cuts off of the main lake. The two bigger fish came out of cuts. One around Geiger and one in Irons Creek. Will be fishing again tommorrow with a friend in the middle section of the lake.:7

RE: Tough Day on Dale Hollow Friday & Saturday

I fished all day Saturday and only caught 2 smallies around 3lb each on shiners. Fished float and fly and never got a bite on it. Fished several places including Hendricks, Holly and Sulpher Creek. The fish I caught was off point at Sulpher Creek. Fish hit shiners back to back for about five minutes around 8:ooam, never got another bite the rest of the day. Same thing happend the week before landing 4 back to back around 10:00 am and nothing the rest of the day. Makes for a long day of fishing.

    Hope this helps.

We fished the fnf Saturday out of Horse Creek and did have any pull downs at all. But hey it was better than being at work.
    Will try next weekend.

RE: Tough Day on Dale Hollow Friday & Saturday

I too had a tough weekend in search of smallies, however the largemouths were a bit more willing to bite. Had 2 on Friday, biggest 5lbs even. Had 4 on Saturday and missed another one and my partner had 2 on Saturday. Finished with a 2 day total of 14.5 lbs and boat total of 18.5lbs for both days. Fish i missed was around 3lbs.

Hopefully the smallies will get a little more active next month.

RE: Tough Day on Dale Hollow Friday & Saturday

We went Wed. out of the State Park and had one on the main lake the first hour 4.6 20.5" Smallie on a shinner. Thirty minutes later my son (11) hooked into what I thought could be the new record and would have been if it were a Smallie but it was a drum. Took about 20 min to land that sucker with his ultra light he was using for the first time. He was proud though we had a bet $20 on the biggest fish of the day and I wasn't specific on the type of fish so Yea I paid up! There was only one other bite all day up Sulpher a 17" smallie. Threw the fly alot and not even one bite. Went by Elnuts cut and no one was there, guess I should have stopped! Going back the third week of Jan. with my new Duck Feather Punisher Folat-n-fly Jigs I ordered today!

My son and I went on Saturday, fished all day and only had two fish,
spots. They came out of 60' of water on a drop shot. Waiting for cold weather...
